What did you do with your 996 today?

Hi Frank yes I do go to brands but didn't this month will be there next month. I live in oxted near westerham hope to see you there. Carrying on with the car today

 
<p>Just for people's interest this is where the oil level/ temp senser is the brass nut with the four wires on it. The round Ali spacer is the back bolt for the air con unit</p>

 
Very enjoyable day spent at the Prescott Hillclimb with fellow PCGB members. My 2nd run was much more confident through the S's, although armco barriers was intimidating on either side. The Milltek's apparently howled going around the two hairpins.

The Rennsport old school 911s in attendance were pretty awesome. And the Victoria sponge cake with strawberries was the 'icing on the cake' :)

 
Hi Picked up my car yesterday - amazing! Shame about the 50mph limit on the M1 home, but still managed to have a lot of fun!. Mechanically its sounds having spend a few quid at Cavendish in Derby. There are a few things I'd like a little advice on cosmetically, and as i cant see a 'search' function on the forum i thought i'd ask you... 1. Couple of scratches - nohting too deep, but enough to annoy me! - Am going to try Scratch X - but does anyone know a good touch up specialist near london that doesn't cost the earth... There are 2, one noticeable one on the spoiler a a less deep one on the bonnet (faint but annoying). Ive a newish merc as the family car, and when i bought it the dealer scratched the car (he spent 500 quid fising it) - I'm hoping to find a cheaper (but good) way of sorting the scratches without a respray... 2. Interior - there is a small plastic cover missing on the navigation unit, again annoying, I cant seem to search (well find) it on google.... Any ideas? 3. Seats, the front seats could do with a little restoration - filling cracks etc - dynamix leather dye kits look good, any advice on others? and if using dynamix - how can you tell what 'finish' to buy (matt, gloss, satin...) 4. Interior panels - could of smallish scrapes / any ideas on how to get these looking as good as poss? (other than replacing) thanks - and sorry to ask soooo many quesitons
 
1. If you're finger nail does not snag in the scratches, then these will polish out. Some of the mobile dent removers are pretty good at deeper scratches, but cannot recommend in your area.

2. Be patient, but ebay is a good place to find obscure trim. Otherwise, OPC should help.

3. Try Gliptone cleaner and nourish. The nourishment can be applied multiple times to feed the leather and is sometimes enough to seal cracks. Then go down dye route - youtube is the best resource.

4. I have the same problem on seat backs and finding matching finishes is difficult. There are plastic paints in the market. I am investigating using a wrap which is a cheap and easy hardwearing fix. Again check youtube.

Well carried on with changing the oil level sensor put the new one in and put the car all back together tried to start her and there's definitely and breather pipe split somewhere so going to put her on a smoke test tomorrow. By the way level sensor working fine.

 
anyone know where to get the 'codes' for interior colours

i cant find anything relating to carpets / seats etc in my paperwork (unless I'm going mad) and the service book does not have any reference.

Today did a smoke test through the throttle body with a hose pipe and some rag and a twenty pound e cigarette (they give of more vapour than a normal cigarette) puffed a couple of times and found my split hose changed her over and she's running like a dream. O buy the way it wasn't a op e cigarette nor a op hose pipe one came from the corner shop and the other home base. What I mean is don't despair when the car has problem ask members for help or ideas.

 
anyone recommend a good specialist in the london (ideally south london), or essex (between chelmsford and colchester) area - mine has just had work done by Cavendish in Derby who seemed great - but its a schlep from SE London, albeit the labour is better value. I was toying with the Hartech scheme for my turbo, but the petrol to Bolton and back might offset any labour costs. So any recommendations appreciated.

Car all cleaned today bought two wish bone for the front changing over the weekend. Monday morning she goes in to get the wheels refurbished.

 
Design911 always recommend HP Motorsport in Essex. I haven't used them yet but they are going to change the Ims for me.

 
Hi Simon I believe they are very good I've just had a quote from Larosa porche Sevenoaks To supply and fit a new hybrid ceramic IMS bearing (there has been a further upgrade to this bearing, so we would fit the latest style) would cost a rather unpleasant £1615.00 plus vat which includes new drive plate, new torque converter bolts and rear main seal. Sounds pretty good to me mate ,cheers .

I had a quote from Porsche Wolverhampton to fit a new Oil Cooler on my 996

911 Sport charged me 1100 in September 2014. Its not just to get the business they cant do it till June Hopefully its covered by the 2 year warranty

So make sure you try a Porsche Dealer as well
