What did you do with your 996 today?

I've had a complete new set of discs, pads, sensors and a bore score inspection (all good). Also a new oil pressure sensor and a door switch which hopefully stop my windows opening by themselves

Started the New Year with a Peaks drive with 3 others on Monday 2nd Jan. Great fun apart from how dirty the car got!

After 15months searching, I collected and fitted some 997 sport seats in Stone Grey, which works well with the Graphite Grey leather, and Granite Grey trim in my car.

I've also enabled the OBC with durametric, I don't have the stalk but this gives me temperature on the dash which is useful. While doing that I noticed there was an error code for the post cat O2 sensor, it had done a couple of very short runs moving in/out of the garage before hand, so I need to recheck that after it's had a decent run, which will be Monday.

Love the car looks great, some nice upgrades, I’ve got 997 seats in my car too, make a difference.

I’ve been looking at the wooden gearknob for mine, there are a few suppliers, where did you get yours from?

Thanks - it's getting very close to being how I want it now. It's a BuiltByBasil ball and adaptor. It's a nicely designed piece of kit, but if you go for one be careful with the 3D printed insert, I snapped one of the fins off it when removing to change the shifter. To his credit Simon replaced FOC, great service.

I was originally using an Alex short shift kit, with the updated bush for the left-right level. Even after my gearbox rebuild it was still quite notchy so I then changed for a 997 GT3 shifter which is slightly shorter than standard (but longer than the Alex kit). Ideally I would like something between the 2.

Mine is beech and walnut with a satin finish. I bought another knob/gaiter/frame combo from eBay to cut down as at some point I will refinish the grubby leather on the top of my original.

Mine look about 5 weeks to arrived, apparently because the email with my spec went to junk, once I’d given him a nudge via a PayPal dispute I had it in about a week. [link=https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51604964775_0cc7256e59_c.jpg]

Thanks for the details, it’s exacly how I specked mine but without pulling the trigger, although you have concerned me re the engraving on top being a little delicate especially as I wear a wedding ring, did you infill your numbers with à colour?

I've used mine for about 2000miles, and haven't noticed any marks from my 18k gold wedding ring. I don't think filling the engraving/shift pattern was an option when I purchased mine.

Decided that rather than get my 19" wheels refurbished I'd treat the car to a new set of 18s and all new Michelins! Very pleased with the result. Probably be putting up the 19s for sale shortly.[attachment=20230521_113541.jpg]

I finally fixed the fuel cap locking pin on my 98 C2.

I originally thought the pin didn’t work and I needed a new mechanism, but on further investigation I found it was functioning, but ‘pushing’ backwards instead of forwards.

I thought this meant the mechanism needed re-securing within the wing, but after a bit of googling I found a video of a chap who suggested it was simply a missing grommet from where the pin emerges. And at only about a £1 it had to be worth a try.

And it worked ! What’s more, it only took seconds to fit.
