what did you do to your 944 today

Painted inside and under with a metal corrosion resistant paint.£42 for 2 litres and it went on like toffee but should be good and hard wearing.Floor now has 3 coats of zinc paint and 2 coats of my new stuff.Just dynomat to go in befor ethe carpet goes back down.Also got the rest of the front suspension in complete with new 968 castor mounts and eibach 40 mmm lower springs on new struts.
 
Stripped down the 968 mirrors I bought, what a p.i.t.a those locking hinge bolts are! needless to say I shall be changing them to a nut and bolt set up once finished. I also removed the nose panel to take to the paint shop for matching the mirrors and removed the rear lights ready to fit the clear lenses, all black stuff removed from the lights and the car as I will be making my foam seals when putting them back together.
 
Yes Eldavo, will be in the Black car, today i have swapped the rear backbox, i then went to replace the short exhaust (Screamer) pipe from the wastgate and all 4 studs in the wastgate housing..............Bollocks ! So it just so happens that i have a resprung spare wastgate and that is now bolted on, not quite finished so it has been left in the air at my mates garage TBC, have repaired the door handle but still not fitted, also require a drivers side window motor. All this on the 220, which is trying my patience at the moment. Has Elliot emigrated ?
 
Well I can't really claim to have done any work on the car today but I did receive a nice parcel from the US via FedEx. I now have a complete set of Raceware stud kits ready for when I reassemble my engine, that day is getting closer...:) Pete
 
Got mine back today, she felt oh so good, and a little bit smoother for her new Crank sensor...should do for the £338 TWG charged me!
 
The nice weather inspired me to take the turbo out to find nice sceneries to take photos but the drive extended to 2 hours and I didn't stop until I got home, even forgetting about taking pictures :)

LOL, that's the joy of 944 ownership. Sometimes I just want to keep driving!
 
Made a start on removing the rear orange lenses.

Most of the orange is gone but a coat of paint is going on to hide any remains of orange as you can see on the right hand cluster.

And black paint applied to the rear of the lenses just to make sure they will have a nice black line once sealed.

Got a nice parcel containing my new goodridge flex brake pipes from Promax today.Really nice looking good quality product but I think Andy should be giving me a nice fat discount for all the free advertising and all the nice things i say about his company on here............. [:D][:D][:D]
 
Dropped the 968 mirrors of at the paint shop for spraying and just come in from doing some more work on the rear lights.
 
drilled 2 small holes in my turbo floor pan to drain the large pond that appeared over the weekend! car has been fully stripped ready for track prep, and was never wet inside before, so something has developed a leak. water seems to be collecting in the middle floor pan area under the seats.
 
Just gave Leo Viradker (Irish Transport Minister) €283 for 3 months tax...... [:'(] Robbin hoors.. I mean its cheaper to put 4 flexible brake pipes and 2 sets of brake pads on the car and thats OPC parts as well.... Rant Over... and relax.....! Paul Mc Nulters said to put aside £1000 to £1500 every year to cover maintenance - That is about right as I try to do one big job a year .. Then its €1007 to tax the car every year outside of that over in this country .. Or €283 every 3 months.. I will get a sneaky month as well and I will make sure of it [:(] The NCT retest is next Tuesday at 08:00.. Car nearly ready to roll [;)]
 
Busy yes but with these no Im going to let the paint harden a bit before re assembly, also im going to change the method in which the two parts are attached plus I have door handles to paint first to go on the car at the same time. Nose panel will go back on this weekend along with the rear lights and I might take a look at the sunroof.
 
I bought a new 944 to go around my new Sparco seats, Safety Devices rollcage and shabby polycarbonate rear hatch... [:D] I havent been this excited about a Porsche frontrunner since I signed for my 968 in the nineties!
 
Got the brakes refurbed (Thanks a mill Ollie[;)]) under super vision from Dave.. Fitted 4 new flexi hoses, new pads and new wear sensors - I never appreciated how good the brakes on a Turbo/S2 really are.. Mine were below par for a brave while and it sonly now that I see just how good they really are.. Just have to bed them in They are squealing a bit at slow speed... 2 new headlights fitted and aligned (Thanks again Ollie [:D]) .. Good vision now...! You know for the first time in 12 years of ownership I can say that all the big jobs are all done and I can put my hand on my heart and say - Well I done that and have the experience, and its done right and proper.. If it wasnt for this forum and all the good sound advice and tips I could never have got teh car up to the standard its now at. Roll on the NCT I say - No fears now [;)]
 
Fixed the electric mirrors. A previous owner had disconnected the plug from the back of the switch on the drivers door. Easy fix :). The motors work but it sounds like a little oil wouldn't go a miss.
