what did you do to your 944 today

Fitted my new interior which arrived this morning [:D] Gone from having Porsche script blue cloth genuine sports seat to black leather with white piping genuine sports seats - really please with the result. The car didn't have a back seat before this morning, I've now fitted the new back seat - so a full set :D

Is that in the square dash? I really liked that interior. Need pics [;)]

Looked at it in pitch darkness whilst replacing a headlight bulb in my cougar (horrible job, much expletives used) to see if the door buttons were still flashing. They were! Roll on the weekend and some nice weather! Stuart

Yes in the square dash. The fabric probably wasn't quite as good as the pictures would have you believe! [:)] Will post some pictures up - probably tomorrow now. I'm really busy today and not with Posche things [:(]. How are you getting on with yours? Bringing it to the 944 meet?

Look forward to the pics Mine is ok, no major issues and it will be coming to Rutland with me. I do love it but tbh I find myself hankering for a square dash still, not that I've thought about swapping already you understand[;)] Oh dear!

Well.... not quite what I did but what Sulzeruk did! Went to see Alasdair for the first time today. Quite delighted to have someone like him within a reasonable distance of home who can look after my car. Also, importantly can help me learn my way around it so I can become more confident & competent myself. [:)] So, exchanged starter motor, 968 castor mounts (from Finland) fitted, central locking fixed, brake pad sensor fault found & fixed, headlights adjusted, timing belt inspected & tail pins/boot lock adjusted. Car also received a good check over and a few jobs for later in the year identified. Well pleased.... [:D] - plus it was good to have a nosey around the cars in the yard!

had my traking checked spot on [:D] next week or so will hav new blets and rocker cover gasket and a service so more £££ to be spent but it all worth it [:D][:D]

opened the garage door, looked at the wee girl covered in dust then shut the door again!! [:(] roll on to when the house is finished then off for a spin[:D]

Changed my alternator for the 2nd time in 2 weeks! Another used one but the bearing on this one has no play and seems quiet enough, brushes got plenty life on them too. This time I done the job on the street outside my house instead of in Alasdair's comfy unit (when to be fair, Alasdair done it but I did watch and learn!). Rain stayed off mostly and finished putting it back together in complete darkness! My shiny new LED inspection lamp came in most handy that I treated myself to today in Halfords. Also got a set with trolley jack, 2 axle stands, chocs and padded wheely board thing (for going under car on) for £59, bargain and kept my back nice and dry. Jobs are so much easier with decent equipment and tools on hand. Incidentally this job can be done on the turbo without dropping the coolant like Clark's Guide suggests. Bit fiddly but saves ditching the coolant, removing various water pipes and then obviously having to re-fill with fresh coolant and bleeding it which can be a pain in the arse itself. All nice and quiet now with no annoying squeaks or noises from the alternator. I am going to put the old one into an auto electrician and get it refurbed so I've got a like new replacement waiting should I have to do it again. Thanks to Elliott for the alternator. Stuart

Went our for a nice Sunday drive, dropping into Graypaul to have a look at all the goodies. Got a nice wave from a white Cayenne as it was leaving.

...and then I adjusted the tailgate pin to stop the rattle. It stopped that one, but started a new, slightly different sounding one! [:D] Gave her a wash, glued the vinyl back on to the trim panel between the sunroof and rear hatch, took her out for a spin and filled her up with some juice

Fitted a black armrest to the Kalahari 220 (thanks Andy Watson) gave her a soak and a wash followed by a 10 mile run, dried off garaged and a coat of meguirs crystal wax including wheels.need to sort a couple of small jobs, power steering reservoir has a small leak for the pipe, blowing a fuse on reverse light and HRW, passenger electric mirror. Went to the other garage and fired the Turbo S up, gave her a quick run and a splash of petrol, hesitating coming on boost initially then fine, i have had this before when she has had stale fuel in the tank, once on the road a good splash of new fuel will sort.......hopefully.

Spent all weekend with the grinder and wire wheel again cleaning off more underseal and rust .Then painted cleaned areas with zinc primmer. Taking a week off in march and hoping to fitt new foor and sills then. Then I only have to remove the engine and front suspension and all wiring pipes etc out of engine bay ready to paint. Then prep body and paint. And then the fun bit of putting it all back together again.Going to tidy up the engine while it is out ie new head gasket valve stem oil seals and check bottom end and bores may replace rings at the same time.

Makes me feel guilty for just topping up the screenwash and driving my step daughter to St Pancras this morning! [:D] Has anyone ever counted how many cameras there are between High Wycombe and Kings Cross, and back again, on the M40/A40? []

I hate to say it, but I bought that set on special offer for £39.99 a couple of months ago, but must agree that having a trolley jack plus other proper tools does make the jobs sooo much easier Drove mine down to Bracknell this morning after over a week spent idle, she felt old and reluctant when I set off, but was eager and buzzing by the time I turned off the M4 110 miles later!

Bought another! 2.7 unseen near Sunderland - eBay strikes again! Saw it late Friday evening won it Saturday morning sorted cash an inscurance, talked daughter in to driving the 190 miles on Sunday - home by 4.00. First impressions ok - just added air and petrol and did the 190 home again at a steady 70 odd nonstop. Details to follow!

Given they are so cheap, I guess you can own multiple 944's for less than the cost of owning a large sock collection, or a good night on the town. I was more amused by the fact that, whenever anyone new pops up on this forum asking about buying a 944 there is a collective sucking-in of breath followed by a long list of things to check and the recommendation that a PPC is a good idea, or at least the prospective buyer should buy one of us a few beers and we'll come along and kick the tyres. And then Mike admits to buying one unseen ... [] Do as we say, not as we do! [:)] Oli.
