Warrantywise or OPC Warranty?

Hi all

I have a 2015 991.1 GTS (with only 7.5k miles), and it came with 6 months Warranty with Warrantywise

Do I extend with Warrantywise, or get the 11-point check with OPC and then buy a Porsche Warranty? Any guidance on this hugely appreciated

Thanks

Personally 3rd party warranty.
I am with RAC and they have been excellent. My 991 is the least reliable car I have ever owned. (Still love her though).
Had nightmare in the past with OPC warranty. Ombudsman and courts involved, took 18 months before Germany acknowledged they were liable.

Further to this post of yours I looked into RAC warranty and noticed that the policy covers a max claim of 2K per policy term..........is that sufficient cover for these cars now that they are pushing close to 10yrs....?

imi, it seems this message was originally posted on May 3rd 2022...? I have an OPC extended warranty on my 991 and have had one repair carried out replacing COV`s, as to the value of that task, I have no idea, though given the cost of parts and labour these days, as you suggest, I doubt £2k would cover much..

Porsche Warranty or Aftermarket... That Is the Question

I am a new owner of a 991.2 GTS, and I’m 50/50. On one side, I’ve heard that if you have a Porsche warranty, they will require your car to have only genuine parts like discs, brakes, etc., otherwise they will invalidate your warranty. Is that true? Also, my car came with an aftermarket exhaust. Will that be a problem?

Thanks for letting me (and probably others) know.

As I understand it the car has to be as it left the factory, even down to the wiper blades and tyre manufacture, brand and of course rating.... Thus it seems you will have to seek an alternative to the official Porsche extended warranty... Sorry.

I just acquired a 2018 991.2 Targa 4 GTS. I got a 2 year platinum warranty from WarrantyWise- £10k limit per repair, everything covered bar consumables, £250 per hour labour rate. I previously had a Bentley, with a WarrantyWise Platinum policy- I had a cruise control issue that cost £1900 to fix, which I had done at a Bentley dealer, and they paid without quibble. They also gave me credit back for the 6 months left on the Bentley policy against my 991 Policy, so a 2 year platinum Policy cost me £1400.

Thanks I am currently looking at options, as I don’t have the OEM exhaust to swap out I feel the Porsche warranty might be a no go anymore based on the feedback and other research …

Unfortunately my car is already at a specialist because of the installation of the exhaust was not done properly and it due to vibrations rubbed through the A/C lines which now leaves me with an engine out job to replace them … really evaluating my options now

I extended OPC warranty twice on my Macan S and now have a 991.1 with the same. I wouldn't run a modern Porsche without one. Every issue fixed without hassle by OPC near me.

As for third party, I have no experience, recently. In the past, terrible.

I just ran a quote on warranty wise........155pcm.... works out to be 1800 pa......

I bought a 718 cayman S(2018) in 2021. In the two years I had it, under the OPC warranty there were three issues fixed without hassle, notably a new gearbox.
I now have a 991.2 with an OPC warranty.

My 718 Spyder will be 3 years old soon and I've had the reminder from the supplying OPC (I bought it 9 months old). This isn't my local OPC and I wondered if there were any benefits to both the OPC and myself if were to chose my local OPC rather than the distant one, to purchase the warranty?

Regards

Bill

Just renewed my Porsche Extended Warranty for the next three years on my 2012 (2013MY) 991.1 C4S when it was at the OPC for a gearbox oil change, due to age as opposed to mileage as it is still under 50k miles. I had noticed a intermittent drip at the connection of the plastic coolant elbow where it attaches to the water pump, which it seems is a known possible issue on 997`s with a fix that used a horse shoe shaped brace which fits over the flange of the plastic pipe, which I suspect allows a tad more clamping pressure to be applied to the flange to prevent possible distortion...? The drip repair was carried out under warranty.

I expected a larger bill for the gearbox oil change as I expected the oil pan to be replaced, given I read somewhere that the gearbox oil filter(s) were built into the pan, and would be replaced at the oil change interval..... The pan was not changed and of course I was not charged for a new oil pan.... I did ask why, but no answer given...?
