Viability of changing a solid sunroof to a panoramic sunroof - 991.1

I'm looking for a 991.1 4 GTS convertible or possibly a coupe with a Pano roof. I've come across a nice car but it has a solid sunroof. Does anyone know if it is possible, with parts, to change a solid to a glass (pano) roof on a 991.1? Let me know your thoughts? Phil

Possible but unlikely to be viable unless you own a body shop.
Why not settle for the solid roof, it means the shell will be stiffer and lighter for sportier performance? [;)]

Clive

Hi Steve - Thanks for making the effort to respond to my forum. Sounds mildly interesting especially as it has a P warranty. Silver not my 1st choice but I'm something of an 'options' man too. Perhaps you can send/post a few pics please. I'm trying to puzzle out how to PM at this moment. Philip

I bought a 991.1 Carrera S with a metal sunroof from a Porsche specialist in North Yorkshire. At the time I asked them whether it could be upgraded to glass and they told me that this wasn’t possible

That's not really true though, is it? There are many specialist firms offering such conversions and man's ingenuity with metalwork knows no bounds.

It's just the efficacy of the undertaking that's questionable in terms of cost, likelihood of a successful outcome and later effect on residual value.

I had a lovely 991.1 with solid sunroof
i now have a 991.2 with pano glass sunroof
i do prefer the lighter inside with glass and with regards to weight difference,my drivings not good enough to notice the difference Clive??
I still prefer the look of the coupe with metal sunroof though- the glass sunroof means the whole roof looks like it’s glass ( and therefore tricky to swap I would think)and I personally am not a fan of that
but proper first world problem!!

Thanks for your comments - bought the GTS and I'm OK with hard sunroof but would have liked a pano version.
