Today we went to start taking the alternator off to try and cure the 'engine wont stop fault' and on jacking up the car it was me that noticed corrosion around the front jacking points. I decided to hold on the work
( so as not to possibly waste a good friends time) and put her through an MOT on the grounds of , if there was any significant fail I wouldn't be up for carrying on sorting out the mass of more niggly faults with the car.
The car failed on corrosion around both jacking points , front brake balance and insufficient hand brake. I am suprised as my outer sills dont even have one bubble on them and are totally solid , i have also looked inside with a camera and found them to look good.
None of the faults are deal breakers really if it wasnt for the long snag list of other non failing faults like the sunroof and several electrical ancilleries like the seat but I am defintately calling it a day. I have other things going on in my life that I wont go in to but definately am not up for a car project.
The car is an 85 C reg 944 turbo with 199,000 miles , I did a 100 mile round trip today after the MOT fail , so she still goes no problem at all. I cant even feel the front brake problem but I am not doubting it is there. If its partially siesed its my fault as the car has sat in a garage since I bought here last Autumn.
I am inviting offers from anyone who would take her on but if no one offers me over 1500 I will put the car on flea-Bay in about ten days time and if no joy then break and scrap the car.
I prey someone wants what is basically a sound car with refurbed Deep Dish Tele Dials on for 1500 or over but no sentimental clap trap if no one does she is toast !
