So, when trickle charging do folks leave their cars locked or unlocked? In particular, I'm wondering about the concerns of pinching the cable by a door or the bonnet when the car is completely locked. Although I wouldn't be worried about leaving the car unlocked in a secure garage I guess the validity of the insurance policy would come in to question if a car was left unlocked.

I connect my C-tek charger on the 718 to the cigarette lighter socket and run the cable outside via the bottom of the passenger door. The soft rubber door seal avoids damage to the cable.

I always double-plip the remote locking when charging in my garage. This deactivates the cabin space and tilt alarm sensors when charging so uses less battery power.

I have had no problems using this method when trickle charging during the winter "resting" months. The cigarette lighter socket accepts the trickle charge perfectly well and does not switch off in my experience.

The crocodile clip alternative as shown by Ralph and Ray is also a good alternative. It's up to each owner to decide what's best for them.

I would not use the crocodile clip for anything but emergency charging. See Page 1 for my arrangement.

As Ralph states. Both he and I have hard wired ours to: Positive post and the negative to the top of the suspension tower.

To Niel,

I dont think I removed the connections to the battery. If memory serves me correctly: Positive first, beware of negative lead flapping around, secondly connect to suspension. It's been and age since I did this but I think you will need a bolt to fasten the neg terminal to the strut top. You will need to check the thread diameter on the strut mount (6mm or 8mm??). The strut top mount has been tapped out already.
