The Development car!

ORIGINAL: repcb

Well, after a serious rush of blood to my wallet (or should that be from?), I am now the owner of Chris's development car and if the weather ever improves it will come and join it's black lhd stablemate 'down south'.
Fred Hampton (who purchased the car from Stuttgart) thought it the earliest chassis number he had come across in either RHD or LHD and who am I to say he's wrong? The car was road registered 4 months before the public launch.
Awesome car with amazing back up documentation (many thanks Chris for all that hard work and hope that that you spend the outrageous funds wisely!!).
I'm a lucky guy. in addition to the LHD RS, I also have a '66 SWB (historic rally spec), a '72 S, an '87 3.2 and I drive them all.
I'm racing a Caterham again this season but obviously will have to race a Porsche next year!
I hope to introduce myself at some PCGB event soon.

Thanks Robin,

It was my pleasure.

As I explained, the previous owner and the car found me --- and ignoring the work, this project has created the opportunity for me to get to know so many people within Porsche with whom I could not otherwise have had fair reason to engage.

Even better, they are all as passionate about Porsche as I had hoped, willingly giving whatever assistance they could.

I hope you have as much fun as I have had --- [:)]

I am sure you will ...

Chris

Not so far as I know --- I saw Robin at Silverstone racing his Lotus Elite !

For what it's worth, my '73 911S is also advertised :)

But the new garage is on it's way !!

At SCoM -- they are looking after it for me until the garage is finished.

But they leave it on their site ... to show what they have.

It's true that they have it, but it's mine :)

Chris, I think you neglected to mention that space is also at a premium due to the sudden arrival of the GT2! [;)]

Chris,
Is that your 964 N-GT with SCoM at the moment? Is that there for the same storage reasons? Or are you selling this on?

I'm changing the bias of my collection with the realisation of proper garaging facilities --- and my evolving driving ambition.

Since the tail end of last year I've bought four cars ...

1. A lovely '75 RHD 2.7 Carrera
2. The '73 LHD 2.4 911S (exchanged for my '74 LHD 2.7 Aubergine car)
3. The racing Cayman S to PCGB specification
4. A lovely 997 GT2

I have sold the 993RS development car which is now with Robin (also a racer !) and am now selling the N-GT because it makes no sense to drive it on circuit in a similar fashion to the stresses imposed upon the Cayman S

I still have:
5. The 2002 GT3R (Acemco car)
6. As a daily driver and comfortable track day car, the Cayman R.

It makes perfect sense. Bought four and sold three.

So I now have:

The older cars either side of the iconic 2.7RS

Cayman "R"oad and Cayman "S"peedy track --- for the learner racer :)

997 GT2 which is a new Turbo GT experience (M003 of course) and the 996 GT3R (which I will eventually learn to drive properly).

As an aside, I've also sold a little MX5 and a little Peugeot 107 --- both very nice in their own way.

I am trying to keep my life focussed --- I still also own and regularly drive a Land Rover Defender 90 (on and off-road), a 7.5 ton Horse Box, and the white van I use to tow the RS3 trailer !

The N-GT is an utterly fantastic car --- extremely smooth and powerful --- but a car now to be schoolmaster to a new owner :)

Chris,
Thanks for the overview of your ownership and future plan. Also good to see that you are flying against the speculative market who seem firm on both 993 and 964 RS derivatives at the moment. Your collection is certainly an eclectic mix of differing era's.
Good luck on the collection and keep us updated!
Regards

Simon, I really enjoy the camerarderie (?) of this scene --- so I'll happily stay as active as I can ! Thank-you.

Even my racing Cayman S has a passenger seat [;)]

(On a fast day for passenger rides and on a slow day for tuition [:D][:D])

If you've never experienced the early cars, you would be amazed at how good they are.

Oldtimer has been alluding to it for a very long time ...

I think he's got out of the 993RS and 964RS while they were at recent peaks and got into a 73 911S and 75 Carrera that are probably still increasing.....

He's a canny lad wor Chris ya know....

There's only one fly in that argument Jason, --- I really don't mind if it doesn't sell ?

I'm a "Christopher" --- continually on the move --- a bit of en explorer ? [;)]

But I do choose very carefully [:)]

Wrong ..... think Chris wants a 2,7 RS and fool to sell above mentioned air coooled ...

Actually, I couldn't drive a 2.7RS in the way that I would want to.

Same for a CGT ...

This is nothing to do with money, --- it is everything to do with experience [;)]

Chris,

a collection that matches your needs and develops with personal experience - perfect!

Sounds like a great journey. Let us know how things go, please!

Best wishes,

Hacki

Thanks Hacki,

I always expected to take a little stick, and rightly so.

When I first started with the N-GT I never really understood what I was letting myself in for.

But, that was the best thing ... no obvious plan, just a passion.

Have hands and feet, nice car, let's go ...

Of course you also have followed this story which now has a momentum --- and still no ending.

But a 2:23 on the Silverstone Historic circuit is starting to get brutal, and that's where I am.

In my dreams I'll get faster --- and there's still that passenger seat [:)]
