Tailgate Latch Seals

So both my seals have seen better days and are letting in water, replaced both about 15 years ago when they were about £15 each from OPC. I knew they had gone up but £65 for the left and £63 for the right (and that's including discount!) is not funny for 2 bits of foamy rubbery stuff!

Anybody have any suggestions or happen to have a lovely brand new set squirrelled away they would sell?

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Fook it, I bit the bullet and ordered them, they had a couple available in the UK, get them Saturday. I suppose £128 is better than water pissing into the boot all winter.

On a side note, does anyone know if you tuck the 2 collars under or over the tailgate seal? I've had them under all these years.........

Still leaking after heavy rain at the weekend! I think there may be small to very small ingress from the latches, hard to tell, however I'm now looking at the light clusters which were sealed with black sealant out a gun when they were last out. OPC wanting £68 for 10m of butyl seal but have seen and ordered this instead for £22 delivered:

I imagine I'll have lots of fun not only removing the clusters but also then removing all the black stuff............. 🙈

One day the boot will be dry!

Well it would seem I'm in line for boot flooding twonk of the year. It appears that after I unclogged the catch tray under the lock latch (which was causing a lot of unwanted water ingress), I have inexplicably re-fitted it upside down with the drain hole at the high side 🤡 . Which would explain why water has overflowed, filled my light cluster and drowned my boot. Oops.

Now oriented correctly and boot carpet out again to dry!

It would also seem I did not need £128 worth of new latch seals. I do however need the light sealer I've ordered as the OS light has a small leak that causes no carpet flooding as it runs down harmlessly into the rear quarter well and out the drain hole. I suppose that can also now be fixed!

Glad I noticed before re-sealing the light and still having water cascading in..................🙈

An expensive and time consuming and head scratching affair all caused by gross incompetence!

and the award for boot flooding twonk of the year goes to....... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Love that, and so glad you spotted it before making everything very permanent

Yes you and me both Paul! :ROFLMAO:

I can confirm that after a few days up here where Noah would have struggled to keep things afloat, that my carpet is still lovely and dry!
