Swear words test

ORIGINAL: zcacogp

I'm not going to argue on-line Peter. Best of luck doing so, but that's something I have neither time nor patience for.

Oli.

PS : my post quoting you a couple of messages above was very firmly tongue in cheek. I didn't mean what I posted and just hope to have somehow made you aware on another possible point of view that may not have been expressed already.

Fair cop Squire - I thought it a bit out of character for you.

But alternative points of view are always welcomed; it made me think, for sure. Thanks for posting it.

A very good exchange between Oli and Paul. Both had me nodding my head in agreement!

So is there a third way? Looking at the forum activity numbers, the 944 section is far and away the most active which says something about the cars and the owners. It also means that the social side will be proportionally bigger than, say the 3.2 Carrera section which just trickles along (WHERE have all those lovely cars gone???). So, perhaps we do need a 'Down the Pub' sticky thread for non technical posting??

I was going to challenge the filter with my favourite welsh made up name, but Mr M has convinced me to stay my hand as I think his point just wins. Instead, for any one interested, just google the great Dai Lama and you'll see what I mean!

We already have 'Down The Pub' areas of the forum - look at Mallets for a start. I think if we generated a specific off topic area in 944 that would be seen as somewhat elitist. If you want to talk about something that isn't 944 related why would you want to talk about it in the 944 area unless only to engage your 944 internet friends? Perhaps more 944 owners should venture to other areas of the forum.

While not wishing to argue I agree that the annonimity (sic) of a clever forum name does engender a outdated culture of internet warrior. And I really don't hold by the weak excuse that it is for security reasons. If someone was sufficiently interested in finding your address the use of a clever name isn't going to slow them down much.

I accept that those of us who have been using fora for 20 years have names which they like to carry across, and we can only have one John Sims as a user name so people can't always pick their proper names, but I don't see any harm in including at least a first name in the signature of a post. If you went down the pub and introduced yourself as Evildeathbringer I am sure people would soon think of a different name for you.
