Steering Column Control Stalks / Unit

I had to make a 'temporary' repair to my steering column unit over the weekend.

Symptom - dipped beam would go off and return to side lights only - fiddle with wiring and it came back on.

Removed steering wheel and column unit and found the plug had a loose wire, and the switch unit had a loose connector.

Fixed as best I could and a cable tie has drawn the plug in to the socket well enough for it to work again.

So, I am on the look out for a three stalk unit including OBC (or is this completely separate ?) to use as a replacement. Used is fine if known to be working well.

Just for information, a new one cost me £200 nearly 4 years ago - indicator stalk broke on mine, so I had to hold in position while waiting to turn.

But when I went to pick up - it turned out he also had an extra separate OBC control stalk; which was what I really wanted...so I bought that off him for £20 & he still has the above item. He will be listing it on the next "free listing" day, but you could try contacting him.

I would guess the C.Control stalk is similar to the OBC; in that it is detachable with a couple of Allen screws...

My stalk and unit are fine bar the one contact I bellieve - now OK with cable tie so looking for full unit - that one is spares ?? but thanks

I got a used switch from Porsch Apart and have fitted that this morning - contact 56 had definitely burned on the old switch (power in from switch ???)

However, I have undone the two allen head bolts to remove the OBC stalk, and yet the stalk remains in place !

How do I remove the OBC stalk so I can swap it on to the new unit ? Don't want to break it by trying to pry it off.

There's a clamp behind it that secures it to the steering column. Have a look at this thread for photos and instructions:

I didn't explain myself too well - I have removed the old controls / switch and replaced with the new one, and all works OK.

The OBC stalk was attached to the old switch unti, and I removed the two allen bolts - but it doesn't then come off as it is a separate unit to the steering column switch unit.

In the end a little 'force' got it off and then bolted to the new stalk, wires reconnect, and voila - all done.
