Given the mixed bag some OPC's get, I wanted to thank Porsche Colchester for letting me take their Turbo S out on familiar roads for a good run to see what it was like. I'd also like to thank the sales man for being brave enough to let me use the settings I wanted and drive it how I liked (as a mini me
disciple of Clive, some of you know what this means). Good on them!
So what did I think having driven it on the same roads I drive my 997 TTS;
[8|]Firstly its more stable, quieter and jiggles around a lot less. Stil ahs the trade mark 911 nod though[
]
[8|]Secondly its actually very comfortable, the control are easy to use and t would be a breeze on a long journey
[
] Thirdly the brakes are utterly phenomenal - face peeling, eye popingly, lines across your body for weeks after powerful stoppers. Noticeably more potent than the 997 TTS which are very good.
[:-] The acceleration - its mid numbingly fast, especially as it quieter, its 10-15mh faster than you think it is and the in gear acceleration is jut a different league from the 997TTS it is just brain blowing
[
] Cornering - the active steering definitely help in the tight corners it turns in quickly and neatly without the slight second bite you need on the older model. Far more agile than the outgoing model with lot of grip in the dry
[
] Brakes - phenomenal
[:-] Acceleration mind numbing
[
] Feel - all the press comment, well the model I drove had a it el through the steering wheel until you started to push through corners, feel was there it maybe a bit less than the 97TTS, through the seat of your pants, the feel was all still there, the feel of the road surface and how much grip s there,
all intact.
[8|] DID I mention the brakes or how mind numbingly good the in gear acceleration is
[8|] Nosie - well with 8k on the clock and sport mode on, its sounded very very nice, slight burble and pops on the overrun, on the 997TTS this did not really start till about 10k miles so this is promising
[
] Abut the brakes and the acceleration............
But was it nicer than the Audi R8 V10+/New Lambo, Ferrari 458 and Macca, hmmm
