RUST UNDERNEATH WHEEL ARCHES

Rather worryingly, I have discovered rust on the underside of both front wheel arches on my 996C4S. Difficult to take a clear picture but I have tried the best possible image as below.
Is this an easy fix (hope so)?
Has anyone else experienced this and could you recommend any body shops who could deal with this in London/Home Counties please?
Many thanks

The Porsche 996, like most models, is prone to rust in certain areas despite having good protection from the factory. This has become more evident as the cars age and approach 25 years or more. While the cars are generally solid, some areas have been susceptible to rust. Therefore, it's important to regularly maintain and inspect your vehicle to prevent extensive damage. Do you have a good local bodyshop that could carry out an inspection and advise? Ian

Hi Ian, thanks for your response. Unfortunately I don't know of any decent body shops in London or around. I was hoping for some suggestions from the forum.
Thanks

When I had my 996 bodywork refreshed I used https://www.rivieraautobody.co.uk/ out to the West of London between Reading and Oxford. They are very good. There are a number of bodyshops in Porsche Post which may help and be closer to the segment of London you live in. Prices can vary depending on what you have done so have a good chat about the work with the one you choose first.

I agree with the comments here but the picture indicates what may appear to be unusual. Perhaps it was owned by a previous owner in a coastal location?

Here are some recommendations for you.
- I get my car serviced at Jaz in St Albans and they use a very good guy (Nic?) for all their work. I had some work done on my 993 a couple of years ago and I was pretty happy with the result. I can't remember the company name but Steve and Claire Winter at Jaz will pass on the details. Let me know if you get stuck.
- www.autobodytechnic.com 911Virgin use these guys and hear good things about them. A friend of mine has used them and was very happy
- https://www.templarclassics.com/ - Another fairly local to me

It may be prudent to anticipate the following:
- Surface rust on a Porsche usually indicates a deeper problem elsewhere and this is probably more true for older models.
- Get a good value repair, but don't compromise or take shortcuts - there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Porsche
