ORIGINAL: Steve Brookes MCPmotorsport joined this forum today and was browsing this thread earlier...wonder if there will be any posts from them soon [;)]
I DO HOPE SO..........[8|] IF ONLY TO SHUT YOU LOT UP!!![:)]

In 2002 we purchased a white RS from Oakhills Trade Beckenham ( advertised in Top Marques ) after the car was inspected on our behalf by a extremely knowledgable and very well known expert We had it completely serviced/ checked over by Matthew Baxter at Autowerke in Norwich The car had had very slight damage to the floorpan----no evidence of any serious collision We checked with Kathryn Josif at Porsche Reading and the car history file lists that letter stating the car was first sold by Jebsen Porsche Centre Kowloon of Hong Kong--- There was a large gap in the cars history if our records are correct We sold the car to a gentleman from London in Feb 03 The chassis number from our records was 499266 However it isnt the first NGT Club Sport to have had a retro fitted lightweight interior, allegedly Respectfully suggest that some of the posts are being overly pessimistic, to put it nicely !! Unless of course , something has changed in the last 8 years-- or allegedly and without prejudice all the experts involved missed something back in 2002 !!! And it was featured in Porsche 911 World

So you're saying it is a genuine M003 with the cage removed and carpets fitted? Well worth a punt then, put it back to OE and sell for £80K+ Is this what your doing Jason? ;O)

One man's pessimism is another man's caution. There are a few things that initially don't add up on this car and the advice has consistently been to get it checked by someone who knows 964RSs.

Not for me. Will always be known as a clubsport modified and remodified back if you do that and gap in history doesn't help but at least we may know what it is now. Des if only you had waited.... :(

Thanks for the known background MCP (Martin?) its a great contribution and a sticky subject for a first post. Internet forums are shocking at abusing cars from limited info, oftne in the pursuit of healthy debate. Jason, so what if its a modified NGT put back again, it will still be a matching numbers NGT (assumably), albeit with "interesting history". As you well know there are many an interesting expensive race car that is certainly not on original shell / engine etc. My concern on putting back to original would be getting a replica Matter Cage right (or trying to find an original). I think in the long term this car will represent good value, admittidely it wont challenge the garage queens for money, but should still do nicely. Even a well sorted parts accurate replica wouldnt be a million miles of this figure.

Of course. I simply said this wasn't for me. As Charles asked.....[8|]

That sounds like the white RS at Oakhills that I went to have a look at. Was circa 2002. Car had work to rear wings/ wing but don't remember too much else too long ago. The HK history rings bells certain it was the car i looked at.

I thought you had a photographic memory Laurence!![:D] Happy Birthday for Thursday mate[:)]

ORIGINAL: carreraboy Happy Birthday to you Jason, I believe it's this year some time[:D]
Nahhh i've stopped having them. Will start having them again when I actually look my age, must have had a hard paperround when a kid...[:D]

The issue about the rather low shell number on the sticker had been brought up. zNS499198 carries shell no. 142-5727. Based on this I would find it a bit akward that 499266 carries shell no. 142-0179. Greetings K

So in English then what is it? That's all anyone is trying to work out in my opinion. Is it a clubsport shell that never had the welded cage welded in and was built as a lightweight? Or is it a lightweight shell that was given a clubsport vin? Or are we saying the factory took a clubsport VIN number, applied it to an older standard lightweight shell and built it as a standard lightweight, so in effect none of it is a clubsport other than the vin number?

I guess asking for a simple answer was too much[;)] Enjoy your new car, whatever it may be[;)]

Des has bought it clearly and is now weaving it a new and cunning history in order to make a 50% profit in the next 6 months ;-) Question is, will he ever find a buyer that believes the "There was this long lost clubsport shell that they forgot to put a cage in, or even build a car around, and they left it in the corner of the factory waiting for the day a rich Chinese guy, who wanted a LHD even though he can only drive RHD in Hong Kong, and wanted a clubsport, but not with a cage, to come along with a suitcase full of money and didn't mind a forged sticker" story... Sounds like a rare car indeed, and who's to say it didn't happen that way... either way, I'm expecting Des to return to full price-fluff mode in the coming months which will be good for all of us! Cheers! Rick

Jason, I think I spelled out above what I beleive the car to be backed by Porsche Factory paperwork in front of me, how what when and who did what over the last twenty years does not change the fact that is is what it is according to it's chassis number a Carrera NGT. Maybe you don't want to accept that, but at least it has Chassis number[;)] But even some cars have two chassis numbers .... so better still ... Pot calling the kettle black and stones in glass houses come to mind in a very nice way. Gentlemen I will continue to uphold the fabulous qualities of this the greatest derivative of the 911 ..... values will always be dictated by demand in The World ...... but yes I would think they are rock solid at these levels.

Personally I think thats out of order as all through this I've simply tried to get to the bottom of whatever the car actually is out of true interest in the marque. I still don't know based on your posts of last night but to be fair have no interest now if you have bought it and are happy. As far as my car goes and what it is, if that is what you are insinuating, then I detailed it in great depth when I got it and went to lengths to gets its story, which I shared also. House is certainly made of bricks here and I stopped throwing stones when I was a small child[8|] I'll leave this thread here now....but I think you should remember that it was many of the postings in this thread that highlighted this cars anomolies that needed checking not ill-informed armchair warriors slagging it off...we even got MCP to register and post about it![:D][:D][:D]

Indeed Jason, "simply getting to the bottom of what it is" I have posted what it is BUT still you persist and don't fully accept my research .... that what pi66es me off with you .... I accept you have what you have BECAUSE you have researched and explained it, I reespect that ... do the same!
