Royal Oak, Chipperfield on Tuesday 3rd Oct

ORIGINAL: 911addict

Thought I'd invite you nice people to the R21 monthly meet as above.
regards,
Mark

Don't need an invite; just a lot of encouragement and reminders will do [;)]

BTW, as the Landlord will tell you: Rick and I came to your meet last month but non of you were around! Can you please put a bit more effort into sync-ing your meets with Rick's PDA gizmo, as we had arrived a day early :ROFLMAO:... Will try and attend again in the future; next week I'm at a conference from work...

Those interested, see this thread: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/m.asp?m=232537
Location postcode for your TomTom: WD4 9LR

Kish,
Sorry about your experience last time.
I'm not an organiser, just a punter, and like the idea of the more Porsches, the merrier.
cheers,
Mark

It was a sarcastic statement hence the :ROFLMAO:; Rick's PDA was on overdrive mode [:)]... they don't serve food, do they?

Whatever you do, eat before you arrive.

Ever seen the food at the pub featured in men behaving badly? They based it on the Royal Oak but toned it down for TV [:'(][:'(][:'(]

Their barbeque is particularly unsuitable for those with false teeth [;)]

So why meet there? I feel confident that there must be another public house with reasonable food nearby.

Now, who will volunteer to undertake the appropriate research and report back to us?

There is another more well known pub in Chipperfield called The Two Brewers. We could take a stroll over there tonight.
Of course a very important requirement is the size of the carpark...

Well I use a pub which is 'only' 2.3 miles from Chipperfield at Flaunden called the Green Dragon.

The Green Dragon has an enormous car park - it's quite easy for me to hide my 997 in it, no chance of a dinged door etc.

It's a pretty village, more likely to see a horse than another car, and the pub is quiet.

Serves Pub food, but also has a Thai restaurant attached - also Thai bar food menu is also available - a slightly lighter selection?

The beer is Adnams e.g. Abbots Ale, London Pride, ESB etc.

One route in to the village has a Green Dragon looking over the hedge of a pub garden, guess they were a little lazy and called the pub after it?

Here is a link: Green Dragon HP3 0PP (01442 832269)

It's not a true 'restaurant' pub where the only reason is to get good food e.g. Brick Layer's Arms, Flaunden (which wins awards for food) but is usually crowded and not one you might go to for a casual drink.

Just got back from the meet.
Really enjoyed meeting the guys and girls, regulars and newbies alike.

Looking forward to the next one.

regards,
Mark

PS: Robin & Jo, thanks for the rundown on your Europe trip, sounds fantastic. I'm keen to do some travelling by Porsche next year!

I'd agree that the venue should be changed, but I'd consider it only polite to discuss it with the RO before going too far [8|]
