Ref Announcement

Geoff was certainly at the forefront of galvanising the 50+ who brought about the EGM. An EGM much heralded as a turning point for the current Board. If, as suggested, this EGM will see the Club going forward then Geoff should be thanked and applauded for his part in bringing this to pass, not cast into outer darkness.

For The Board to pursue what can only be considered a vendetta only goes to highlight, and confirm, the reasons behind the original discontent. We were meant to have moved forward.

From what I saw at the recent conference this isn't the case. Geoff was handing out letters at the EGM, those letters contained accusations he's refused to substantiate or withdraw as I understand it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

What really bugs me is that I'd bet my mortgage Geoff never wrote the letter, it wasn't his style. If he chooses to cover for someone else then that's ultimately his choice, but it's a silly way to continue fighting when everyone else has picked themselves up, shaken hands and moved on. Of course, if it was written by someone else they could always have the guts to stand up and say so, rather than staying anonymous and watching Geoff take the fall. [&o]
 
I was asked to distribute the note. It had some very good points and one that I wasn't entirely happy with.
I handed out a couple of them and then someone asked me for them I handed them over.
I am not one to name people who acted with the good of the Club at heart. We can see what would happen to them if I did. That is why I would not name the members willing to stand for an interim Board. I think I was proven right in that decision.

I did see the note at the EGM and knew that Geoff did not write it. However, I have absolutely no idea who did.

However, in my opinion, the note contained nothing particularly offensive and was not libellous, though perhaps other legal experts may disagree.

Whatever, I feel strongly that whoever did write that note should have the guts to stand up and be counted.

They aren't, but have made it clear they have a way of viewing the forum. Let's be honest here; if someone who, for any reason, can't post for themselves want's to stand up and admit they were behind this letter I'll post it personally for them. No-one would expect anything different.

I did find the letter distasteful, it said things I don't agree with. If it was me I'd apologise, openly say who wrote it and ask why that person couldn't have the guts to stand up and hand it out themselves. Unless they weren't a Club member, in which case, of course, they couldn't have attended in person (but also had no right to interfere in that case).

Geoff, I totally disagree with you that this letter was in anyone's best interest, it wasn't needed or wanted by the people who called for the EGM. I also disagree with you over the anonymity of anyone (and I'm happy to say I was one without worrying that I'll be getting called to a meeting any time soon [&:]) who'd offered to help if the existing board either left, or were voted out. Nick Hine was very clear that there would be no recriminations, this is different. You're taking the fall for someone else's mistake and that's wrong.

I also was asked and volunteered to help.

Some weeks later when it became apparant that names had been leaked, I made it clear to Alan Welshman and Nick Hine that I had been asked and was thanked for my openess. I have no regrets at all as my only wish was to help and preserve the club and both of them inderstood this.

Time to move on.
 
How about Paul or Peter naming & shaming? Is he a Club member even?

I still don't know who wrote that note, but I think, in light of what has been said on the Forum, that the Board should reconsider removing Geoff as RO. If they don't, it will be our loss.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say it's up to Geoff if he wants to go down the route I would take if it was me personally; accept that the letter was unacceptable, it wasn't written by him, and he shouldn't be the one taking the blame here. Come out and say who it was, accept it was silly to be handing someone else's letter around and realise that you were being used.

It's not really anyone else's business to get involved other than to offer their support and advice to an old friend. Also, no-one else actually KNOWS who wrote the letter, although we can obviously speculate and have a pretty clear idea.

Things are never as simple as they seem. I can prove who the note was written by but for good reasons I cannot do it at this time.
If, as you say, you know who wrote it you may be aware that there are things happening that makes it difficult for me.

My membership to PCGB is precious to me but my integrity is more precious.

I have only just heard of this and am sadened by what has happened, I have known you for many years, enjoyed your events greatly and fear you will be sadly missed by those who have known you for being forthright and commited, hopefully we will see you sometime[:D].

Aarrgg this is horrible. Let's stop now. Take a deep breath and no-one do anything silly. I love the events Geoff organises and would hate to see him go. So let's all calm down and take some time. Time will heal.

It is with great sadness I read you find yourself in this position, for whatever reason.

I did question what National events we would be having this year and the answer was just one. The RAC in August.
I guess confirmation of this will follow when we get our Year Planners with next Porsche Post.

You will be a big loss - I know these are just some of the events your were instrumental last year.

-All your Regional Events
-The IOM Tour
-Porsche and Polo
-The Cotswold Rally


However, I'm sure I speak for us the vast majority of members when I say we do hope this can be resolved quickly and we will be seeing you in the near future.
 
Well, Moreton in Marsh is a nicer drive than flogging up the motorway to Halesowen....that's why I didn't go! Cornbury House is a brilliant base for that sort of thing.
 
Like all runs. It depends where you are coming from.

This year it was held in October because of a very full callender.
Paul is organising it in 2012 so the date and venue is up to him. mI have opened a thread on the members page and you might like to let Paul know about your preferences.

I hear straight from the horses mouth that common sense has prevailed. Geoff and the Board have settled their differences very amicably. Geoff is very happy to let Mavis continue as RO, but he will do what he does really well, that is manage the events that he is famous for.

The alternative would have been a great loss to us the members!

So now we all can move forward into 2012 safe in the knowledge that we will continue to enjoy such events as the Cotswold Rally. Hip Hip Hoorah!
