R7 2020 WOTY, Wales Version 2.0 (CV19 Update)

Hello Dean and Matt,

I am very sorry but I will not be able to attend the WOTY event this year. I hope to attend events again soon, when things return to some kind of normality, hopefully sooner rather than later. Take care all and stay safe.

Best Regards

David Hill

Hello Dean/Matt

I'm looking forward to the WOTY next weekend. You mentioned that you would be able to print the driving routes and wonder if you would do the Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons ones for me please.

Hi Dean/Matt

I’d be interested in routes for Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons also.

Looking forward to it.

Thanks in advance

Mark & Julie

Hi Jonathan and Mark & Julie, apologies for the delayed response, we have been up to the British motor museum and just got back. Sure, I’ll print those 2 runs off for you guys. We were thinking of doing those runs too! Not long to go now, can’t wait to get away for a little break [:)]

Hi Dean/Matt

Are you planning to send a note with final instructions and arrangements for the trip including the planned driving routes, the meet up at Chester PC and how the hotel plan to manage us as a group? I think I read yesterday that restrictions on gatherings are being eased in Wales next weekend? Or have I missed this as was away all last week? looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Looking forward to it also. Be good to get back out on some decent roads again.

Kind Regards

Hi Simon and thanks for your message.

I have spoke to Kat at Porche Centre Chester and decided in the interests of safety and simpleness for our members, we have cancelled the stop off there on the way. They are only open by appointment only and didn't want to keep pushing them to have us in the dealership as it probably goes against their current policy. They have sent us a lovely email wishing us a great weekend and inviting us to send over any pictures we may have to share on their social media.

Please click here for the Hotel's latest policy on visiting the metropole. I plan to speak to the hotel tomorrow to touch base and let them tell us how they want to handle us during our stay. I'll try and get an update up on the forum after speaking to them. Fingers crossed nothing changes between now and then lol.

Hope to update on here soon.

Thanks

Dean

Sure, no problem at all. Have you have a look at the routes and found the one you would like to do? If you're looking for the link it's here.

Just let me know and I will make sure I have a set ready for you when we meet up at the hotel on Friday afternoon/evening.

Thanks

Dean

Hi All,

I managed to speak to the Hotel today. They are looking forward to welcoming us tomorrow. I have been assured all procedures are in place for a safe and enjoyable stay.

Leyla and I aim will be setting off from York around midday and aim to be at the Hotel around 4pm to welcome our members. We will be waiting in the bar area which is next to reception.

Following a quick refresh in our rooms, we will be dining in one of the Hotel's private dining rooms. We will probably head back to the bar for a couple of drinks before heading back to our rooms to rest for Saturdays driving.

We will be aiming to head down for breakfast for around 9am. That will give us plenty of time to enjoy the Hotel breakfast.

I have printed out maps and directions of the 2 most popular routes (Breacon Beacons and North West Snowdonia) and they will be available for everyone who would like copies. Just let me know at Breakfast and I will make sure you have a copy. I'll also make sure you have our contact details in case anyone needs to speak to us throughout the day.

We aim to depart for around 10.30am so I am hoping we could all meet around 10 minutes before in the car park.

Leyla and I plan to stop somewhere around the half way mark (depending on which route we take) for lunch. We will probably just use our mobile phone to find somewhere local to stop off for a snack before carrying on and completing our drive back to the Hotel.

Our evening meal will once again be held in a separate dining room and hosted by our Hotel.

Although the weekend will be different to last years event, I am hoping that everyone enjoys the opportunity to enjoy a weekend away in a beautiful part of the country and be looked after by our hosts at the Metropole Hotel.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, drive safely and see you in Wales!

Dean & Leyla
