Hi Matt and Dean,

I have made a booking direct with the Metropole Hotel for the Fri and Sat night. My PCGB membership number is 140338.

I have been to the Beckwithshaw meet-up quite a few times in the year or so I have been a member, thanks to Graham for mentioning this event to me!

Many thanks

David Hill

Hi David, great to hear you will be joining us. I've added yo to my list and will thank Graham for helping promote the event next time I see him. When I ready your user name I thought it might the F1 champ Damon Hill, he was after all driving a Porsche on top gear the other week......[:D]

Hi all,

Had a quick update from the Hotel today. They plan to re-open on 3rd August but are still awaiting further instructions/guidelines from the Welsh Government.

They are hopeful we can still run the event and assure us the requirements surrounding social distancing will be implemented.

With the situation evolving and the government guidelines being reviewed regularly, we will monitor the situation and review again as we get closer to the event.

I personally am very hopeful the event will still run and look forward to getting the car out on those amazing Welsh roads! Leyla and I have our fingers crossed things continue to improve and we get the green light.

Hope everyone is enjoying the good weather and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Thanks, Dean & Leyla

R7 2020 Weekend of the year hosted by The Metropole Hotel & Spa | Temple Street | Llandrindod Wells | LD1 5DY Tel: 01597 823700 Friday 21st August 2020, Saturday 22nd August 2020 and Sunday 23rd August 2020 [attachImg]https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/download.axd?file=0;1052246&where=message&f=IMG_1351.jpeg[/attachImg] https://www.metropole.co.uk/ Following a very enjoyable visit to Wales last year, we are planning to head back to Wales for some more excellent driving roads and the fantastic company. This year, we have organised a “pit stop” about halfway along the journey down to Llandrindod Wells. Porsche Center Chester will be welcoming us into their amazing dealership so we have a chance to stretch our legs, look at some of their amazing Porsche cars and use the facilities. Once we are rested and re-fuelled, we will travel down to the hotel on Friday evening and will begin the weekend with a meal for everyone to catch up with each other. On Saturday we will be spending the day out in the cars enjoying the wonderful and beautiful scenery of Wales. We will be trying one of the many amazing routes that come highly recommended by other car clubs that have used this venue before. We will be having a lunch stop during the run. This will be announced closer to the event. Saturday evening will be similar to last year, we will be meeting up in the bar before dining together to catch up on the day's adventures. After Sunday morning breakfast, anyone wishing to try an additional driving route will be able to do so. There are some shorter runs on the Hotel website here. For those not wishing to spend the day enjoying the beautiful scenery of Wales, the hotel Spa is a good alternative. Entry to the Spa is included in the rate. The Spa has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Treatments can be booked and it is suggested these are booked in advance to avoid disappointment on the day (Treatment costs are not included in the rate). The rate for the 2-night stay will be £82.00 per person per night based on a stay in a Classic Room. This includes Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. We have provisionally reserved 20 rooms for the trip. The Metropole are kindly offering a room rate of £84.00 per person, per night (Total of £336.00 per couple) sharing a classic room to include:A 3-course dinner served in a private dining roomBed and full Welsh breakfastUse of our leisure spa Car Parking would be reserved in their car park which is directly to the rear of the hotel. Booking will be direct with the hotel on 01597 828510 quoting R7 PCGB WOTY. They will require a £20.00 non-refundable deposit per person to secure each individual bedroom reservation, please see below the hotels' cancellation policy below for group bookings: Hotel Cancellation Policy; Deposit is non-refundable. Individual reservations cancelled within 4 to 7 days prior to arrival are charged at 60%. Thereafter any cancellations received within 72 hours prior (4 pm 3 days prior) to arrival are charged at 100% of the booking value. Any non-arrivals will be charged for in full. All charges, except deposits, are subject to our not re-selling any released accommodation. If you would like to join us, then book directly with the hotel on 01597 823700 quoting "R7 PCGB 2020 WOTY". Once you have made your booking, please let us know that you have booked either by the R7 email or on the WOTY 2020 forum thread quoting your Names and PCGB membership number. Demand for the WOTY has been high in previous years so we suggest that you book early to avoid disappointment. Please post in the thread when you have made a booking. Thanks Matt & Dean

Hi

I understood this event was postponed, now it seems it might be back on. Problem I have is that I am not sure we can now do the original dates. I did try ringing the hotel to cancel my booking but no answer.

If it is back on my place could be used by someone else.

Thanks Jenny

Hi Jenny,

I think the hotel is running on skeleton staff at the moment so there might be a delay in them getting back to you. Sorry to hear you can't make it but I'm sure we will see you at an event soon (once we get back to the new normal!)

Dean & Matt.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our trip to Wales along with just about everything else we had lined up [:(].

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there with you all last year and we were both looking forward to staying at The Metropole this summer.

Hope to link up with fellow R7 members again at some point but until then the quest for locating deserted stretches of pristine tarmac goes on.

Best regards.

Zeusy.

Hi Zuesy, Tanks for letting us know. Hopefully your successful on your quest and hope to see you at future events.

Kind regards,

Dean

Hi Dean and Matt,

Just to let you know that given the current Welsh restrictions on households meeting indoors

and the current uncertainty with the increase in cases, Jane and I will be cancelling our booking tomorrow.

I'm sorry we won't be attending our first WOTY and look forward to hopefully being back to normal for next year and look forward to meeting up with our fellow R7 friends when safe to do so.

Really sad as I changed from the Cayenne truck to the 997 just before lockdown and have yet to enjoy it with fellow members.

Stay safe and hope to see you all soon.

Best regards

Mke and Jane
