Porsche Insurance - Changing to Carbon Brokers

Blimey. Not what they told me on two different occasions. I would get them to confirm that in writing if I were you!

That is being done as we speak
bit confusing really because, as we ourselves didn't spec the car Exeter opc did this. this changed the situation
i explained to them all the extras
but because we didn't actually asked for them at the factory and pay for them
they are covered
so I explained the extras where within the new car price
again no change so it will be in the policy all optional extra's from factory covered

NFU Mutual are doing good deals on Porsche atm, but you're excluded from "the carriage of explosives, more than 2,000 shotgun cartridges or bullets at any one time, chemicals or gases excluded."
Straight forward cover and none of the discussion problems Adrian experienced last year - all depends on the associate taking your call, I guess.
Regards,
Clive

Do any of you have multi driver cover? If so I would be interested to hear which insurance company you use.

I had my immediate family (me plus five, all over 30 and all clean records) covered to drive my BGTS and I want to do the same for my 991.2 GTS when it arrives in late July. I managed to get it from Aviva but it was a load of hassle as their system only allows four named drivers. I have learned from this thread I need to check carefully that all repairs and windscreen are either OPC or Porsche Approved repairers, so I may have to move away from Aviva anyway. It's too soon for me to go to the trouble of getting quotes yet as I think they are only valid for two months.
Thanks
Gordon.

Quick question for those of you who have moved to Carbon Brokers/Lawshield with the Aviva policy. There are a whole raft of changes - none for the better, including a now very chunky £700 excess. Anyone negotiate a better deal from them? It's not a bad quote though, being slightly less than last year for my 991.2C2S at £518.

I have detailed below some changes in your Policy from Aviva for your information.

Your previous policy had £600 child seat cover and the new policy will have £100
Your pervious policy had £300 of medical expenses cover and your new policy will have £100
Your previous policy had a single claim limit of £5,000 and an annual claim limit of £20,000 for personal accident cover. Your new policy will have a £2,500 single claim limit and a £5,000 annual claim limit.
Your previous policy had a £250 personal belongings cover and your new policy will have £150.

Also there is a change in excess cover, This policy has a Standard Excess cover of £200 and a Vehicle Excess of £500, Windscreen excess is still £75.00

Hi Peter, when I had the 4S and renewal with Carbon came up in January, the premium went down to £493 including the legal cover premium, having changed to the GTS with a considerably higher value the additional premium for the remaining 8 months of the policy was £30 that would put the annual at approximately £538.

Did your excess rise to £700 too?

yes but my £700 is in addition to the standard vehicle excess of £200. ??
It shows as a separate endorsement on the policy. I've got a similar clause for the Macan GTS but that is £500. I should have said the additional £30 for the change to the 911 GTS included a £10 admin charge so the annual premium works out about £523.

Does anyone know if the insurers mentioned here now insist on having the tracker activated - I'm just wondering as Aviva have told me it's a must for them, I'm not totally against that but it adds £235 to the cost each year.

As far as I know, unless it's changed in the last few years, they insist a tracker is active if the insured value is more than £75k.

Thanks - that would explain it as mine will be over £100k.

Just renewed my insurance with Carbon, previously with Marsh. The Premium was about the same as last year, however I confirm as Peter stated some changes have been made to the policy (Aviva). Which brings me to my next point, I received my insurance docs including the Aviva policy which appears to be their standard Private Car Policy (Powerpoint). One of the reasons going with Carbon was that they confirmed in their quotation that in the event of a claim only original Porsche parts and Porsche approved repairers are used, however after reading the Aviva policy it states that they may decide to use suitable parts not supplied by the original manufacturer. I contacted Carbon on this point and they advised that the Aviva policy supplied was temporary as the "official” policy would not be available until September. Subsequently I have received a letter from Carbon confirming that only original Porsche parts and repairers would be used. Just wondering if anyone else as had a similar experience with Carbon?

Thanks for that info David - glad some people read the small print! I'll make sure I get the same note.

Recently renewed direct with Marsh (Aviva), improved level of cover over that on offer from Carbon and even from that of last year with them (my first as a Porsche owner). Premium was much the same as last year and cheaper than Carbon [:)]

When shopping around I found that those advertising in Porsche Post were significantly (40% at least) more expensive but that did include standard items that I did not require ... e.g. significant / unlimited number of trackdays.

None of the insurers have an issue with fitting non N rated tyres.

(In addition, when looking to insure a non Porsche Marsh (Aviva) mirrored my Porsche max NCB, but only for a single driver.)

I contacted Carbon for a quote today. They informed me that the policy they would offer is a "standard Aviva policy", not the specific Porsche one. They said that the policy terms will be exactly the same, but that the Porsche policy would not be available until next year.

Caveat emptor I guess (I hope that is the correct spelling)
