Porsche Fever. I hope there's no cure!

I have recently bought a 991 Carrera S and now have Porsche fever! Never really paid much attention to Porsches over the years (and I have been around a while now!) but when I saw my first 991 last year it stopped me in my tracks. So much better balanced in poise and stance being longer and the interior is just something to behold. I had a professionally-built Cobra replica for 13 years and whilst in was much fun it was totally impractical and now that my wife and I are 'empty-nested' we wanted something to get away in. Sold the Cobra back in April 2017 virtually overnight with the intention of renovating the garage and then looking for a used 991 C2S this spring. That all went to pants when I spied one of the original launch models in agate grey with the 20" classic wheels (my perfect spec) and all the extras with which the launch vehicles were supplied. A quick trip up to London, private purchase with the vendor agreeing to get the 111-point check carried out at my expense and I paid for the OPC 2 year warranty. Bought and paid for.....but no garage in which to put it! These photos are of the car storage site where it was then kept for a month while I frantically sorted my garage. I am sure a few of you will also have suffered sleepless nights in the lead up to collecting your pride and joy - I was hanging by the day of collection in October. All worth it and have hardly let a day go by without some short trip in it. This year we are doing the PCGB Manx Tour, driving through Devon and Cornwall in Feb as well as driving through Spain North to South over 16 days in the Autumn......and any other excuse to get in it really! Glad to be a member and hope to meet some of you over the year.
If I knew how to post photos I would......any advice please?

I have Porsche fever too! After 21 years of driving company cars, I took the plunge in March 2016 with a new Macan 2.0. Then crazily, after just a month, I traded that in for a pre-owned 991.1 C2. In 8 months, I covered about 11k miles in that car. Loved it! Then, for practical family reasons, I ordered a new Panamera 4 which I collected from the OPC in March 17. It's a great GT sporty saloon and I've already done over 13,500 miles in it! However, my heart yearned to be back in a 911, so with family 'approval' I now have a new 991.2 Carrera T on order! My second 911, but built to order and am super-excited! []

Looking forward to seeing photos and hearing more about your Carrera S!

Simon, very interested to see how you compare the T with your original 991.1 CS. Good write up in last week's Autocar on the T. Have you driven one yet? Not sure whether OPCs have test drive vehicles yet. What colour did you go for?
My spec is great because it was one of the original launch cars. PDK, Chrono plus, power steering plus, PSE, PDCC, full black leather, 14-way seats, heated seats, steel sunroof, Bose, cruise control, TPMS, dynamic cornering headlights, homelink, park assist front and rear, interior light package, retractable door mirrors, dimming mirror with rain sensor, top tint screen......and all I wanted really was PDK, Chrono, grey paint and classic wheels! Easily pleased really. I had never driven a 911 so didn't really know what to expect and PDCC seems to be a marmite thing, when you read the forums, but I am still amazed at how the car goes through bends without issue and stays so flat with presumably more tyre contact with the road as a result. Fantastic car to just sit in - Porsche Design is beautiful....and SO comfortable.

Your 991.1 S looks gorgeous! Very classy.

Not driven a T yet. As you say, too early for OPCs to have any to drive I think. And may be a little while before they get one at Silverstone PEC...

I've gone for Racing Yellow! Also the Carrera T interior package with Racing Yellow contrast stitching etc. It comes with the Porsche Sports Exhaust, Sport Chrono, the 20mm lowered Sport PASM suspension, limited slip diff etc. Very excited!!

No cure at all. I was first affected when I was 8 years old when my father bought one, then I bought an old '74 G-Model that had been "tweaked" 22 years ago. I was forced into selling it a couple of years later (long story) and have been pining for a replacement for 20 years until bought my new beloved in June. The yearnings have gone, but I still get goosebumps watching youtube vids about them, thinking about them and when I turn that key...

Cheers Guys. @John.. Yeah, that took some clever work on the part of the graphics guy, it's proportioned for the 991 rather than just a copy of the '73 RS's one which is a tad smaller. Seems he's more of a 911 nerd than we are!

Oh yeah as if that's possible! Suits the car very well in a retro way. There is a recent thread on Zunsport grills and I noticed that you havn't had them fitted. Have you considered them? I know you have to remove them for warranty work at the OPC so I asked them whether they thought the grills would affect the air intake and possibly create cooling issues. They do think this which is why they don't offer them as a Porsche accessory. I think I'm right in saying that they did then fit them to the GT3 but that car has much larger air intakes to counter this. I really want to speak to someone with a 991.1 C2S who has fitted them.......anyone?

Yeah, I kinda want to, but like you I'm nervous. I have considered screwing a GT3 front bumper on instead too, but the "in house Financial Director" is not too keen on that idea and I don't even know if it would fit!

Meanwhile I'll keep swerving the rocks even if it does spill my scotch!
