It looks a lovely unit and would certainly upgrade the car, but that's a massive price for a unit that will be used how often?
I have the Autoabc conversion on my 997.2, completed by myself and like others have successfully added a reverse camera. I am also thinking of adding a front camera during the winter. Reason for camera is I have no parking aids and is less intrusive than fitting reversing sensors, the camera works well and has made a world of difference in my confidence in parking the 911.
CarPlay works well, phone connectivity is good, it is very clear and music streams well.
Cost for unit in a sale from AutoABC 18 months ago was £159.00, both cameras under £40
Fitting time was a few hours, unit fitting took me two hours, the rest of hours was spent running the wiring from the rear to the front.
Word of warning working inside the PCM unit is a very heat affected PCB and wiring, so if your not careful can break the fittings and you will end up buying the PCCM+ anyway.
If you consider the summer use of my 911 and amount of time I actually spent listening to music, telephone calls using maps I doubt I could justify the £2500.oo likely cost and fitting of the PCCM+, I would still have to fit cameras on top of that.
If your a purist your 997.2 will no longer look original either as looking at the pictures of the unit it is very sleek and modern. If I had the budget, no skills in fitting the system I have, would certainly put it on my Christmas list. I wonder how long it will take the Chinese to replicate the PCCM+, if it is not already sitting on the shelves! Porsche never does itself any favours when it comes to over pricing.
