The trick to spring and autumn driving is a decent sealant and lots of wax on your paint.. Ive used carlak nano sealant this year, with a couple of layers of P21S Carnuba wax over the top.. Once a year the car gets a complete strip back to paint, clay, Meg's 3-step polish, then sealant and 2 or 3 layers of wax.. This just gets topped up with wax when needed (every 2 weeks normally) and a re-seal and wax every 3 months or so. This gives loads of protection to the paint, and mud and dirt just slides off..
This is from race-retro on sunday, photo taken monday afternoon... You can see the car is pretty clean, just pasted in mud from the car park (and I was only driving slowly to make sure it didnt get too caked up! )
the car is clean underneath, trust me!..
And this is after a 1/2hr wash down and a mist over with some last-touch detailer spray.. ignore the tyres and wheels (it went dark before I cleaned them) and also I just noticed I missed the inside edge of the rear bumper [

Also I have some crap on the lens of the camera, that isnt a scratch on the front of the arch and a barnicle on the rear [

I agree that these cars are made to be driven, however i do take mine off the road for the winter, but once the road salt is gone and you get the occasional good day when you can do a proper clean I reckon there is a lot to be said for keeping it well protected and using it as much as possible..
