Noise from 991.1 GT3 PDK Gear Shifter

Does anyone know what this mechanical grinding noise coming from the gear shifter area on my 991.1 GT3 is?

It only seems to happen when the engine is idling and in P although not every time and the noise stops when you select D, or sometimes on it's own. I know the PDK in the GT3 is noisy but this doesn't seem like a normal GT3 noise.

The car has been back into a Porsche OPC under warranty who have said it's normal but I've had advice from other GT3 owners that it isn't and has been fixed on other cars.

I agree with Dan that it doesn’t sound right Lee. Most likely it’s a rattle from the transmission being transmitted into the cabin by the cable linkage between the selector and the actuator on the transmission.

Apparently, when P is selected a spring-loaded pin [the parking pawl] is moved into position to engage a specially designed toothed wheel mounted on the output shaft of the transmission. Maybe the pawl isn’t engaging completely and it’s this which is causing the rattle when the engine is idling? Hopefully there’s some adjustment available in the linkage/actuator, but whatever is the case your dealer needs to look into this more closely instead of fobbing you off with the usual excuse that: “They all do that sir”.
