New Year Gathering - Now 4th March, all welcome

I've got a fresh tax disc winging its way to me, but not sure using the white car is going to be a very clever idea (there's very little grip when the tyres are cold even in much warmer weather), but the tempation to give it a run might still win. If not, I'm probably going to have the dirtiest car there, I haven't washed the 944S for quite a few weeks [:)]

Any one else had a dusting of Snow? And it is a very light dusting mind you the sky looks full of it Keeping everything crossed and hoping it misses us I am going to cal the pub later just to see what the cut off point wil be if the worse happens, I assume if the majority of us could not make it tomorrow we would re-schedule - say 2 wekas time? Let me know your thoughts and how you want to play it Of course let's hope we are on for tomorrow but just in case........

Fingers crossed about tomorrow Andy but we do need to keep sensible heads on. I'm only 10 mins down the road but for all you travelling, if there's a lot of snow maybe we have to consider postponing? See what the cut off time is and we can make a decision

Ok gents, Spoke to Sarah at the White Horse who is very understanding regarding our cars, we have agreed that I will phone her at 8am in the morning to make our decision. Can you gents please call or text me in the morning by 7.45 (or this evening if you know) so as I can then phone the White Horse at 8am this is so that they can keep the meat that they have ordered instead of preparing and potentially wasting and we can keep our deposits. I have said to Sarah that in the event we do have to cancel tomorrow we would re-schedule in maybe 2 weeks time? Hope you are all ok with the above, any suggestions welcome. My mobile no. 07920589750

Thanks for that Andy much appreciated. Will call as requested. I can't do the 19th but see who can do what if necessary. Cheers

7:45 go/no go is too late for me. I need to be on the road by 7:30 am at the latest to make the meeting points.

Glenn, I am sure we can all agree a later meeting time especially due to the weather, I also have to leave home at 7.30 go and collect car from garage then get on the road my journey time to Rutland is 2hr 30mins (legal speed) If we all met at Rutland at 11am that would still be 1 1/2hr outside in the freezing cold before we sought sanctuary in the pub. If the weather is lousy, I may well take the longer route and meet up at South Mimms as opposed to crossing via A120 & M11

Personally for me the forecasts plus all the sporting events being cancelled suggests we would do better to reschedule. For any of us travelling any distance while it might appear okish near home tomorrow morning it may well be very different en route or at Rutland so a go/no go call is going to be difficult. Not sure being parked up in a freezing snowbound car park waiting for the pub is going to be a whole lot fun either plus there's a danger that only a few will turn up and the whole thing be a damp (or frozen) squib. My personal gut feeling at present is that I won't be making the journey but will keep a keen eye on the forecast during the day and confirm one way or another later.

Looking at the aviation weather reports, which tend to be more specific/accurate, we'll get snow later this afternoon/evening, with a possibility that it is heavy. I'm only 10 mins from Rutland water so can post up later this evening what conditions are like and if we have had snow or not. (as long as I'm sober enough after watching England in the 6 nations - assuming that's not cancelled due to weather!) Cheers Andy

Jon, Iif everyone else logs on today at some point we could agree to postpone tomorrow by say 8 pm tonight, I had originally suggested this to the White Horse but they were happy to wait untill tomorrow morning, which personally I think was good of them. I suggest we do the following if all can agree by copy and paste. Cancel 5th February Andy & Lin Watson New date Andy & Lin - 19th Feb or 4th 18th 25th March

You guys afraid of a little snow! For me it's fine either way ,i have snow tires and chains ready , i could even tow you guys all the way there[;)]

I am happy to wait and make the call tomorrow morning, as originally stated. If we do decide postpone, I cannot make the 19th of February; the 26th February and the 4th of March is (reluctantly since it is the "Breakfast Club" at Goodwood) possible.

I'm open to dates if we did postpone, but 4th March would make sense to me as hopefully more chance of good weather. Still sunny here in Rutland, will keep you posted but think it will be different by the end of the afternoon (aside from being dark before anyone claims that one![:D])

The worst forecast I can see is approx 2-3" snow mainly falling before midnight, with temperatures rising after. I would say that Rutland should be ok but not sure that our meeting place may not, trying to think of an alternative!

Like Andy Watson, I'm travelling from Colchester. I will look on here later and se what the state of play is. I'm happy to come tomorrow depending on how bad the snow is overnight. ( Anyway, Ive just put the fuel in!) Regards AndyB

Nah, I don't think so, had good intentions of cleaning mine today, but after walking the dog was too cold and thought better of it! Like hairy I have been watching the aviation Weather and am no suffering a lack of credibility with my Facebook friends as the snow should have arrived 5 minutes ago Will stick my nose outside in the morning and see what's what, I am not eating at the pub but will check on here for the go/no go decision

Wanted to was the car but the water runs across the footpath to the park and across the road so I thought better of it! Batteries charging, car, camera and video. Been snowing half an hour here Mark[:)]
