New W.Midlands member - 944 S2 track modified - For Sale

Would be interesting to try them back to back & see what difference the carpets make to the noise I'm quite pleased how quiet my gearbox is as well - quieter than my turbo, and definitely quieter than my 924S's

You know what Simon, it's not much different in my car, with or without the seat base (maybe after 230k the gearbox is run in nicely.. [:D])

Im surprised, because I did the same as you, removing all the sound deadening and refitting the carpets. My transaxle was very quiet, but when I removed the squab the difference in noise was really noticeable (and that with plastic windows too, so it was already loud)!

I even removed the VERY sticky NVH material on the tunnel - it's the thin sheet stuck on with near bitchumen substance. I've not driven it since, but imagine it's going to be quite loud now - equivalent of adding 20bhp I'm sure ;)

We should have a weigh-off [;)] Well people organise RR days, we could have a weighbridge day [:D]

only if I can turn up with a cardboard box for a seat and bungee cord for seatbelt - in all seriousness as soon as I'm at a track day I'll get in on a weighbridge and post the results

I know where you can weigh for free Ed, near to where the Civic was painted. Ive weighed cars there for years and like rolling road dynometers, weighbridges always cause disappointment... [:D]

A bit of progress this evening. Roll cage masked up and sanded down

Looking good - I`m quite envious Not a critique and I`m not an engineer but I do have a feel for things having built many cars but I think the harness bar should only be a guide bar. It's not very big and it is a huge span to take two people in my view especially in a full frontal. If it had a center brace down onto the transmission tunnel or back into the boot floor it would double its strength in that area. Finally, pin the clip on buckles - there`s a hole in them for that purpose [;)]

Perhaps a knee-jerk reaction, but I've decided to sell my 944. The 944 is nice, but I miss having a lightweight car too much and have decided on a VX220 for my next venture. This is a decent well sorted car IMHO. That's a shame Will - I suppose they aren't for everyone.. Have you done any trackdays in it? If you haven't - don't sell it until you have. (You might change your mind)

I went to Curborough recently and had a great time - met some nice Porsche owners too :) It's a pity I didn't have the chance to take it to Cadwell Park, my favourite circuit.

I would like the garage space for my new toy - so price reduced to £4495. I believe this represents genuine good value for money, considering the service history and track modifications.

How bad is the rust? Is it terminal or curable within reason? If curable, would you hazzard a guess how much a shop would charge and how extensive is it through the car? I'm possibly looking for something like this for another project.
