Ah - I saw this had sold & was hoping it will crop up one here We've discussed this car at some length on here - I thought it looked great VFM. It's quite similar to mine in many ways Welcome - what's your track day plans? (and plans for the car?)

Welcome Will, Not for road use then at that ride height! Gerry

Good Lord! Thats going to need the bottom protecting if youre going to drive on the road. The fire extinguisher still makes smile. [:D]

Hello

My first Porsche and I love it!
I've had quite a few german cars but this thing handles really well (on smooth roads) [:D]

Stripped track car built by RPM in Guards Red.
KW varient 3
Polybushed
968 ARB's
Half cage
Sabelt seats and harness's
LSD
Turbo gear box
993 Alloys
etc....
Ive just fitted a full manifold back Janspeed twin exit which sounds great and have a few other bits to do to the car over winter....
Anyway pics!

Cheers guys! It's super low but it's been really well set up and works quite well on the road! I have been using it daily this week with no ground clearance issues, it will be used mainly for track time however. I'm booked on at Blyton park this Saturday and hopefully Donnington on the 31st. Few bits of laquer peel on the bonnet etc oh and only one boot catch is working unless I climb past the cage and help it out, not fun! I managed to get it for £6k then had a full service done at RPM who have been excellent!

RPM have a good reputation and I've always been pleased with their work over the last three years so I'm sure you have got yourself a well built car. I think that the final consensus was that the sale price of your car, although initially surprising as one lump sum, was well justified given your specification and most people who have gone down a similar DIY route actually spent more all told. Personally I think that you should install brake cooling ducts where the front fog/driving lights are, that way I could buy your pristine lenses! Have fun with it, I guess we won't see you at many social meets as it doesn't look the most comfortable transport but its always worth checking into this forum every now and then.

Ed, this is the car that was the cheaper of the two and offered good value, wasnt it? OP: Id consider removing the silly extinguisher from the centre console. A to-hand extinguisher should be AFFF, not powder. To put anything out you need a 4kg powder type which Id mount on the floor, behind the seat (using plumbed in bottle mounts). Simon

Good value in my opinion Simon - although i know you like a bargain [:D] 030 brakes & LSD are worth having (my standard brakes were working very hard on Monday night at Donington - I think I will move up from 1155's to PF97's) I'll be working on the 31st - otherwise I might have popped down the road to say hello. I've been to Blyton once although not in a 944 - not a pleasant place in the cold & rain but some interesting corners there - not bad for a flat airfield.

Haha Joss, nice try! [:D] The only reason I booked blyton is to get a feel for her and try not to break it! The fire extinguisher is going to be changed for a proper system and I'm going to get the dashboard flocked to give it the racecar feel [;)]

Remember that plumbed-in systems and hand held AFFF entinguishers are designed to save the driver, not the car. If you want to save the car then you need a substantial powder extinguisher and a pair of gloves!

Lovely car!Hope you enjoy it[:D]Looks lovely in Red!RPM always are spoken of highly on here. You could even convert that into a race car for future classics or PCGB championship one day? Forgive the small ad below,it sort of on thread.. If you decide to go 17inch on the wheels front I have some great cup1 reps and/or Mich Cup tyres (lightly used) I could do you a great deal on,all standard sizes.

ORIGINAL: Will1981 Thanks for the info, I think at that stage you'd forget about the car!
Perhaps. With the correct extinguisher, I believe that most car fires can be dealt with though.

ORIGINAL: Will1981 Hi Mark Definitely interested, pics and price please!
Just remember - Michelin cups are a bit "tricky" in the wet.... good dry track tyre though. I was at Oulton a few years ago on a track day - there was a young lad testing a 944 race car he'd just bought & going very well. In the afternoon it rained & later on I saw them loading up a very sorry looking 944 with front end damage - "no-one told us we shouldn't use the cups in the wet" 4 wheels & tyres fit nicely in the back of a 944 (might be more of a squeeze with the cage)

Thanks for the heads up, I'd take a wet set just in case! It's even more of a squeeze as the boot won't even open [:D]

Just noticed you doing the Ring and Spa in October, I just missed booking Spa but will be at the Ring then too!
