New 944 S2 owner!

ORIGINAL: Will1981 Many thanks for the details, only about 20 miles away too. Had a fantastic day at Blyton park yesterday in the car, everything was spot on and she looks great on track! Perhaps a little underpowered compared to my last cars but so much fun with some nice oversteer [:D] Are there any tuning options, cams, manifold, intake etc? Or is supercharging the way to go??
I don't know what you have at the moment but there are claims that a stainless exhaust + air filter + chip can improve things a bit. I have the first two , and have a promax chip ready to fit. Maybe sometime we'll do another RR day and do some comparisons. It would be good to swap standard and chipped ECU's between cars to see the difference. beyond that is serious money, and is rather missing the point of the car IMO - If you want a more powerful car, buy a turbo [:D].

I have just fitted a full Janspeed system so maybe a filter and chip, or perhaps some standalone management. A RR day Would be good to see how healthy the car is, currently as a package I love it!

Standalone is a big step, but barks944 on here is developing a standalone system that is plug compatible (I think) with the ECU (DME) [link]http://www.augmentautomotive.co.uk/[/link] I reckon that's looking a really good option when he gets round to an S2 version. Might be a while yet though

Just had a look at the promax chip, I think I'll order one and a decent filter then onto the RR and see what happens.

Promax chip def worth the ton, improves mid range torque by about 20% so useful, n/a tuning is expensive on these cars, as are super chargers ($6,000), only affordable FI (with no lag[;)]) seems to be nitrous for about £1000 upwards, only know of one 928 owner who has done it on standard unmodified engine, he's been running it for 7 years or so and gets about 200bhp+ per shot. Wizards of NOS seem to be the experts on the matter. Might be cheaper than a turbo and you still get to have a lumpy 3l NA engine when not on gas... Edd

Then my neighbour reversed into the front wing, not happy but booked in for some paint next month as both wings needed some attention:

Thanks Edd, think I'll get the Promax chip and eurocup GT induction kit. Now booked on at Donnington for the 3rd of September [:D]

car look great on track, looks like you had fun, I bet you could do without neighbours like that... Pete

At least theyve admitted to it and not simply looked about and then driven off... Will, where did you get the gaiter from, please? Also: if it needs a new wing and the bottom of that one is good, then dont disgard it, as it isnt worthless. Simon

Unlucky with the wing, but as mentioned at least you know the culprit! I love the Alcantara gaiter, not seen one before.

We are good friends with the neighbours and she was mortified as she knows how I look after my cars, these things happen! The wing is repairable so will remain on the car, but I have read they can get some serious rot in the sills.. The gaitor is from eBay.de and cost £80 delivered, I'll try and find the link.

The company is www.towin-parts.com There eBay site: http://www.ebay.de/sch/www_towin-parts_com/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1 Might be worth an email if anyone wants one?!

Good heavens thats expensive (although it is nice)! Thats Southbound money, I believe, although I think that they only offer leather.

Some good pics there Will. Gear lever gaiter looks great - I wonder how it will wear? Who's the Donington day with? Ed

I was too when I saw it on PH Ed. How good it actually is depends on the numbers booked, I suppose. How often do cheaper OPL days have a pitlane that is actually blocked by 20+ cars queuing in front of you?

I wouldn't worry about that - usually only an issue for the first couple of hours & straight after lunch. It tends to thin out as the day goes on, (and as cars break..) OPL trackdays are normally pretty empty for the last hour You can't spend all day on the track anyway. (specially not in a turbo [;)] )

I wouldnt expect to still be there by lunch time! [:D] My brakes were good enough for an MOT test, but lining thickness was the only advisory. Id been planning on leaving everything as-is until I have the rear bushes replaced in a few weeks time. I think that a few hard Redgates would see them go right through.
