Navigation map update, what’s the latest version?

Dear all,

I trying to clarify what’s the latest navigation map update for the 991.2

Viewing the PCM the version I have installed is dated 2024.2 This version is at least 3 years out of date as we moved to a new housing development 3 years ago and the SatNav still thinks the car is parked in a field 😤

I will be driving over to the continent later this month and want to have the latest version installed to minimize stress where I can. I contacted Porsche UK customer support and all they did was request that I contact your local dealership for assistance. I have been phoning my local dealership for over a week and still they are not confirm if I have the latest version or not!

I have tried updating the maps via online which appear to have limited success, but most of the counties I am visiting state there are no updates available?

So I’m reaching out to fellow members in asking if they have a newer version than 2024.2

Thank you.

Might be easier for you to update the PCM4 and enable the wired CarPlay / Android Auto it supports. You can make that wireless with a USB adapter. You then have a far superior Navigation with the likes of Waze than you ever will with the Porsche Nav.

Thanks 595triple, I already use ‘Waze’, and ‘MyRoutes-app’ via ApplePlay and switch between ApplePlay and the inbuilt Sat-Nav as needed.

Just thought in reaching out to try and clarify if I have the latest version or not, thank you.

Recently came back from my European trip, for the tip itself I purchased a 'Pay & Go' Sim from Tesco Mobile for the PCM as Tesco offered free European roaming, (already with Tesco Mobile for my iPhone). However on a few occasions in the Alps Swiss and Italian alps I experienced issues with 'CarPlay' connectivity such as when connecting my iPhone to the USB lead to the USB socket in the centre console it would not connect! Also some of the Apps in the PCM were greyed out (even though I have paid the yearly subscription). As you can imagine not having access to Wase, Google or my predefined road routes (www.myrouteapp.com) this became a but frustrating at times and having the added complication I was driving solo, no backup navigator (the wife) to assist. So I finished having to resort to the inbuilt PCM Satnav. Next time thinking of purchasing local country network SIMs, has anyone also experienced similar connectivity issues with CarPlay?

I contacted Porsche regarding the inability to connect to CarPlay and they were not able to help, now back in the UK all is working fine! However I have noticed that the time the auto headlight dimming turns off the lights after exiting a tunnel does appear to be very long over 10 seconds? I am sure previously it was quicker than this!

On the connectivity to the PCM, this may just be because you were using a wired connection directly to the PCM. When I upgraded my .1 with an aftermarket wireless CarPlay, a caveat to that was that the PCM Bluetooth connectivity to my phone needed to be turned off to allow the initial Bluetooth connection required for CarPlay (after which it switches to WiFi) to work. If I did not do this I would experience a conflict.

In my Macan which has PCM4.1, this has the OE Carplay that is wireless. However, if I plug my phone into a USB socket, the connectivity for CarPlay can become very variable. The PCM seems to decide I want the phone as a source and disconnects Carplay. I can reconnect by going into devices and reselecting but it would often drop again. Leaving it purely wireless and the issue goes away. I had something similar happen in a previous Macan. The solution there was to fit a USB adapter into the lighter / car accessory power socket so the phone could charge but otherwise was not connected to the PCM via a wire.

For your network, I would have checked if Tesco's roaming agreement includes Switzerland as that is not EU. I guess coverage will depend on which network provider Tesco actually uses.

So to recap, for Carplay, check the wireless operation on its own (if yours supports wireless - not sure from earlier posts if you upgraded that).
