My inadvertent 944 turbo project

ORIGINAL: aporschefan Trying to work out if [link=http://www.ebay.de/itm/Porsche-944-Turbo-Sportsitze-Sport-seats-911-924-968-964-993-Recaro-Sitze-/180731564051?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item2a1470d013]these sports seats[/link] are actually sports seats with large bolsters or the title is misleading? Can anyone here help?
They are. Its more difficult with later electric sports seats (not extended squab or tombstone headrest), but the height of the squab bolster gives it away, along with the bulbousness of the outer bolsters where the inner bolsters are so slender.

If you look further down in the body of the ad youll see that they are damaged, and also that they are indeed sports seats. I thought that they were 'cheap'. They aren't cheap, theyre damned expensive, but cheap for that vendor, who is ridiculously expensive for used parts.

I have been looking for a little while but without luck. Either I buy these and have them retrimmed or buy a leather seat kit as a short to medium term measure. The damage doesn't look too bad or unrepairable to me. A leather seat kit is circa £5-600. Any idea how much a retrim cost from a decent outfit? Don't suppose anyone here has sports seats they want to sell??

These were retrimmed circa the price you quote for a seat kit.

Thanks T3rra. Looking for linen ideally. But would consider other colors too. Got your email. Thanks. Busy day today but will reply later this evening.

They look good. And it seems a fair price. Can I ask where from? These were retrimmed circa the price you quote for a seat kit.

If you look at these carefully one is a Sports seat with high bolsters and one is a standard seat. Good old EBay

Thought I'd check in again and update the thread. As the weather now a little better, the car went back back to JMG so the road tuning could be completed. I'm still not sure if I should have been surprised with what followed. :) I received a message from Mark while he was completing the tuning. (You already know where this is going don't you??) While he was driving, one of the fuel pipes burst or split or something. I'm glad he and the car lived to tell the tale. I don't have records of the fuel pipes being changed and as they are all probably more than 20 years old, I decided to change the lot. So now I have completely new fuel lines and pipes. Yah! Hopefully a potential disaster averted!! There were some other bits I decided to tidy up. Including having the sills treated to waxoil. They weren't in a bad state so decided to take preventative action. I was expecting to have the little bit of rust on the O/S front wing sorted but have now run out of time. That may have to wait until this winter. (It's not too bad at the moment.) I'm collecting the car on Saturday so hope to have more pics and updates then.

Haven't been on here much lately. But am close to loosing my patience with 944 ownership. I'm not talking about the car or the costs but what are avoidable nuisances. Really strongly considering selling up and going down a similar path as Ed and getting a 335 convertible, take it to DMS and get an after market exhaust. With a small family, it may prove more reliable than a 944 and give me more confidence of taking the family for a euro road trip. + the rear seats may be more useable? Would be a shame after all the time and money spent to have to sell the car...

The car will most likely be going. :( I hope to have the advert ready at some stage over the weekend. Feel free to PM in case anyone here is interested. Presumably the best place to advertise is on here and PH?

Haven't driven the TT-RS but seen 1 at vmax a couple of years ago. Not a bad choice. I'm thinking of respraying mine before selling as the paintwork isn't in showroom condition. (A couple of people have suggested that to me.) if I do that, then I'll be tempted to keep it! :)
