Motorsound airbox cover

Any of you guys have one fitted? OPC thinks it cannot be done as RS has different box?? I'm sure I have seen RS with one of these. If you have one on yours, what was the part no and did you have to buy it as a package with the awful looking muffler tips?

Cheers.

H. Not an easy one online without the parts to hand!

I had one on a previous RS, but have no clue of the actual part number fitted....I sold it to someone with a varioram C2, who never complained, so I assume it fitted?

There is a motorsound airbox part no 99311003056 which looks like the clips are in the right places to fit an RS.

I would be amazed if this did not fit, maybe try before purchase if unsure or agree a return?

You can definitely buy this item on it's own, without the fancy exhaust tips, last I recall, around £60-65, but with "Porsche tax", it could be anything now (not less!)

You do realise that the new box cover has a few holes drilled in the side and a plasti-chrome finish to the air intake.

There is no more power, just intake noise, which may be what you are looking for.

Thanks for that. I will see if I can find the part no. Just wondered if anyone had it on. The cover looks like standard with as you say chromed tip and some holes drilled. Just wanted some bling [:D]

You can fit the motorsound air filter cover on the RS, but you need to remove the chromed inlet and insert the cold air intake.

That confuses me..

I had the motorsound air box fitted with the shiny inlet and drilled holes on an RS...I replaced this with the standard airbox fitted with the additional cold air intake which is actually a 993 turbo part.

I thought you wanted to install the Motorsound air filter cover with a cold air intake.

Which is possible : Take out the inlet and put the cold air intake in cover.

I see what you mean. I just want to ut on the motorsound minus that trumpet. What is the advantage of the CAI?

The trumpet is a turbo part that can be fitted with the RS rear spoiler.

It will not give you any more outright power, however it can help maintain the power you have as it draws in cold air.

With the standard air box set up, if the engine bay is very warm and you draw in "hot" air, this can have the effect of less power, I assume down to the warmer air being less dense.

I was once told the standard ecu retards the ignition slightly (less power) if the intake air is too hot......I don't know how true that is?

So the crux of the cold air intake, is potentially more consistent power output over temperature ranges and people always asking "what's that?" when you lift the engine cover! :)

It looks like a urinal [:D] Does it fit under M002 wing?

That's another possible use?!

It definitely fits under an M002 rear wing, it sits nicely under the vents...though hardly looks like "bling".

H, I would have thought a cold air intake in your part of the Uk, is the last thing you need at this time of year! :)

Yeah, even in the summer.... Car stays in garage over winter, always have done - too much salt on the road, we don't want our investments to rust away do we [;)] I envy those in warmer climates who can drive it all year round.Anyway you have the ultimate bling [:)]
