Missing radio code 986

Hello,

Please could you help me! I have just returned home from a month long live in work stint and Peaches the Boxster's radio wont accept the code written on the owners manual after jumpstarting it. Apparently it should be 0692 but this wasn't the case.

If possible please could you tell me what it is meant to be, Thanks!

The Type no. is 4467

and the serial no. is X5020981

Hi Richard

Thank you so much for looking into it and providing me with a code. Unfortunately it did not work and the head unit is still asking for a code. Unsure what to do from here unless there are alternative codes I can try. Any help from here on would be much appreciated especially now that my passenger window wont move so I have another headache with the old Boxster!

Thanks again.

That's the first time my decoder has not worked in at least 100 times. Could you double-check the serial number? Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio.

Thats strange. I have double checked and those do appear to be the correct codes.

Please find attached below an IMGUR album with photos directly from the head unit itself. Thanks!

I guess there is a first time for everything. Assuming you are entering the code as per page 2 of the attached, I'm not sure what to suggest. I suppose there is a possibility that one of the display segments has failed, but I'm clutching at straws. You could remove the radio and read the label to confirm, but that's a bit of a faff if you don't have the release keys.

The only other way to get the code would be to ask a Porsche Centre. Porsche in Germany store the radio codes, but UK dealers usually make you jump through hoops to identify yourself and verify car ownership before they will give you the code.

Yep, thats how I entered the code. Strange!

Just spoke to someone at Porsche Centre Guildford who was kind enough to let me know that Porsche apparently no longer have a relationship with Becker and there are no more codes available via Porsche. I asked if the codes were stored in Germany and he told me categorically they are not. There is no option to get codes from a Porsche centre.

I have been referred to radiocodes.co.uk by the Porsche Centre - but now I need to wait for the radio removal keys to get the BE number from the back of the radio. (Unless that's the type no.? BE4467?)

The plot thickens!

I was under the impression that the code was recorded on Porsche's IPAS system, which stores all the security codes for cars prior to the 981/991. I would have a word with another dealer, or Porsche Customer Services at Reading.

Yes, it is a BE4467. If you do contact radiocodes, I would be tempted to tell them you have tried 9843, in case they have the same decoder as me and try to charge you for one that you know doesn't work. The radio codes are sometmes stored in the car's DME Vehicle Data register, which can be read by a Porsche system tester. From experience, I would say about 5 out of 10 cars have the code recorded.

Hello all.

My Boxster S needs a good CDR-22 to pair up with its factory fitted Becker CD changer.

If anyone has one lying around for which they no longer have use for please get in touch.

Best regards.

Zeusy.

CR-22/CDR-22: Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio. CR-21: Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of numbered buttons below display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear.
