May have to sell-up

Long story short, it looks like personal circumstances mean I have to put my Turbo up for sale shortly - a little ironic having got third time lucky with my search for the right one! Oh well, such is life.

Anyway, my dilemma is that prices for 944's and Turbo's still seem to be very wide and varied so I'm a little lost as to how to price my car. I would welcome any constructive opinions!

As a brief summary, it's a 1986 944 Turbo in Sapphire blue with half leather burgundy interior and sports seats. It's completely standard with original teledials,LSD and no ABS. All in good condition, no rust at all on the car and inside the sills is pretty much factory fresh with no rust (despite what the black underseal on the sills might make you think! [:D]) The car has a good history, 109,000 miles and belts are due at the end of this year but haven't done many miles.

MOT until January 2014 and tax until September 2013.

...now has CS wheel fitted

I keep coming up with a figure in my head of £6500 - I'm not quite sure why but also not sure if that's overpriced?

Anyway, thoughts are welcome

Thanks in advance

Andy

Andy , i prsonally think the early ones especially pre abs are the true classics and they seem to be dropping in numbers quicker than later models.
as folk seem quicker to scrap them due to the lower resale.
(vicious circle?)

However as yet they dont seem to fetch as much or even close to the later models despite my prefring them.

I have owned one as you may know but with 200 on the clock not 100
And i personally would say youd get 4500 for yours maybe 5000
But you know how it is 'what folk willing to pay' and all that.

Nice car anyway !

Mas

Sorry, hope you dont mind a bit of off thread................

Oooooooooohhhhh, that interior reminds me of mine and I love the steering wheel. You dont see many like that with half leather.

Are they the original overmats? I had them too but they werent quite as good as yours, immaculate but more faded and the script was nearer the seats.

Back on topic.............

Good luck with the sale but if you dont mind me saying that seems a bit higher than what I think the market will pay at the moment.

PS; have you the sunroof delete option, thats of interest to people in the know?

Andy,

I am really sorry and gutted for you, hopefully the situation will turn around and you can keep her,
As you say prices are all over the place, for a rare colour good condition car like yours, I reckon you can hold out for your asking price only down side would be the up coming belt change, might be worth having them done as you did with the 1st car?

Good luck with everything mate and hope you can stay with us, or at least come back.

Nice car, much the same interior as mine, which is quite a surprise seeing burgundy on a blue car. If it has an LSD, that was an optional extra, not standard on a 220hp car. And I thin that is a 968 CS wheel retrimmed to match the rest of the car, which while not standard is a touch that I think adds to the car (I have a CS wheel in mine, though in black). Looks like no sunroof to me, which is something I also like.

What's it like in terms of recent refurbishment - suspension / belts / head gasket etc?

Lovely, someone should grab it at that kind of money, Turbos seem to be hot property at the moment, people seem to be cottoning on, this is the earliest of the breed and looks very nice.

Thanks for the comments chaps. It does have a sunroof btw - all works and sunroof bag is present, along with working luggage blind. LSD was on option list of Porsche certificate that came with the car and I've checked it is still fitted. The CS wheel didn't come with the car, it had a lozenge but I got the CS off Elliot last year.

I guess the floor mats are original. They're not mint but not bad at all.

I thought my price was 'strong' but thought I'd open up on my thoughts! Whilst I may have to sell, I'm not desperate so can afford to price it a little high at least and see what happens.

ORIGINAL: Lowtimer

Well, it looks like a really attractive car so don't give it away, whatever you do.

Agree 100%. we need to stop under valuing these great cars. This looks miles away from the dros you see on ebay being sold with little or no history. I would pitch it at the 6k mark at least to start.

I also agree, a lovely looking car and much better than some of the 'restoration' jobs that are currently being offered.

Strange colour combination for the interior/exterior but probably nicer in the flesh and the sport seats with leatherette and pinstripe look great and wear really well [:)]

Looking at the interior photo, I believe that they are in fact leather and not vinyl. Im curious to know whether they have leather sides and rears though, which would suggest to me that they are from a 911 and have been cunningly substituted.

Sorry to hear about your situation mate. I hope it gets better, I know how happy you are with this one.

I'm not completely up to speed with the market for these, but that feels like top-money. Maybe a can of silver paint for the sills will help realise the best price you can?

I had been thinking about painting the sills. Mick who did the rear of my square dash I'm sure would sort for about £250. However, I can put a scope up the sills for any prospective owner and when they see the sills are clean and tidy inside maybe they wont be so worried? It was the first thing I planned to do when I bought the car but strangely the look has grown on me!

Colour combo does look good in the flesh - very 80's retro interior! From memory and the Porsche Certificate that came with the car the seats are original. They are leather on the front, leatherette on the back

Sorry to hear that Andy [&o] I had a look over your car at Rutland and whilst not a detailed inspection as if I was going to buy, it certainly looks a good one. Much better in the flesh than a lot of them look in photo's. I personally couldn't live with that colour interior but if someone has been looking for a good one they should snap it up at that price compared to most of the dogs out there.

I would definitely sell it with fresh belts to remove any any doubt from a purchasers mind and and to get rid of one point they can knock the price down on. Good luck with the sale

Very sorry you are selling Andy. Superb advert, hope you get asking price for it, it's a very reasonable price I think. Hope you return to 944 ownership soon!
