Hi I’m thinking of doing some mods to my 991.2 turbo. Lichfield do a power upgrade to around 650bhp. They no longer do their own exhaust but have recommended Miltek plus sports cats. Need more sound in sport mode. Don’t want the drone though as like to drive it under the radar for a lot of the time. My concern is it being too noisy and regretting it and issues around my Porsche warranty when I renew. I figured I could just do the exhaust not the power upgrade to preserve the warranty on the turbo replacement cost which scares me. Any experience of this on here please?

If you use an external box to remap, that can be removed and is undetectable. I'm guessing Litchfield will do something different that is more permanent. If so, warranty gone.
Not sure on Porsche UK's warranty view on exhausts. In the US they allow such things but as its directly connected to the engine, plus the exhaust system has sensors in it, not sure that in the UK/EU its allowed. You need to research.
Note that all tuning like this just fools the sensors on the engine. It will provide more top end but its not a free ride. You will lose power somewhere. Usually low down.
I believe the .2 Turbo is solid. The .2 regular 'turbos' are a bit fragile unless they had the oil line mods.
650hp does not sound 'much' for the 3.8 Turbo. I thought they were promoting near that kind of power with the 3.0T. Not that I have really investigated this.

Thanks. The litchfield remap for the 991.2 as I understand it can’t be switched on and off. The safest course seems to be to leave the car alone.

Id say its probably a little more than that, new fuel maps, ignition advance, pushing rev limits etc and of course increase boost pressures across the rev range.

FVD do an OBD2 reflash and you can reset it back to factory before the car goes in for warranty work or servicing. I think they still offer PCGB discounts too.
Well yes, and also no. The sensors play a large part in controlling the engines limits. You can remap an engine but thats only reversable if you have the original maps. The common way to do it now is via an intermediate box which modifies the sensor data to get the cars ECU to behave differently.Id say its probably a little more than that, new fuel maps, ignition advance, pushing rev limits etc and of course increase boost pressures across the rev range.
As I said theres no free lunch. You cannot solely tune a car electronically. Turbo cars are easier because you can up the boost and dump more fuel. N/A engines are much harder. You perhaps refine flat spots but not much else. If you want to improve an engines efficiency then you have to improve both its volumetric efficiency and mechanical efficiency. A lot of GT3 engine improvements have been due to lubrication.
Now I don't know where this particular box lives on a 991 given the engine bay is inaccessible. But I have used boxes from these people and they definatley work. You just plug them in and unplug when you need to hide tthe tune.
991.2 Turbo has around 550 bhp. Are you really looking for more? Are you driving the car flat out everywhere and constantly wishing you had more grunt? If so certainly consider a power upgrade. However, for many it's all just bragging rights and as far as real-life performance is concerned, the money would be far better spent on a decent set of boots.Thanks. My understanding is that everytime it's flashed it increments a counter, which Porsche would have a record of, if they had flashed it.
