Hi

Are any R26ers planning a trip to Le Mans 2014 to celebrate Porsche's LMP1 entry?

The London region are going in convoy (which will be fun) but I'm guessing that Dorset members would do better to travel Poole / Cherbourg?

Finally do Porsche folk prefer to use Lycian or Travel Destinations who both seem to offer identical (Porsche curves, private camp site etc.) packages?

At the moment the answer is I don't know. We have not put a calendar together for next year yet.

Looks like Lycian events are the preferred ticket/campsite organisers for PCGB members and I am currently exploring ferry options etc. from Dorset so will post the outcome of my investigations for anyone that might be interested...

Wednesday 11th June - 09:00 Brittany 'fast' ferry from Portsmouth / Cherbourg - I've opted for Portsmouth over Poole as the fast ferries don't seem to run from Poole.

I have been advised to book the ferry direct as individuals are likely to get the best rates booking this far in advance. I got mine for £258 return for 1 car & 2 passengers which seems ok...

Drive down to Le Mans.

I've registered with Joy & Stephen who run Lycian events - and reserved a camping pitch & parking space at their exclusive (mainly Porsche) camp site at the inside of the Porsche curves. They are lovely people to do business with - Members of PCGB - and extremely passionate about what they do. Check out their web site: http://www.lycianevents.com. Apparently there will be more about Lycian / PCGB / Le Mans 2014 in the October Porsche Post.

Wed 11th - Sun 15th June - Le Mans. The 24hrs is Sat 14th/Sun15th but it's a good idea to get there early, if possible, to enjoy parades, practice etc. and to drive on the public road sections of the track between practice sessions.

Monday 16th June - Leisurely drive back to Cherbourg - catch 17:00 'fast' ferry back to Portsmouth and drive back to Dorset.

There are many and various travel and accommodation options available, of course, so do your own web rummaging and make your choice.

I am told that the Mark Webber & Porsche LMP1 entry factors have greatly increased demand for 2014 tickets so....get your skates on and I'll see you there!
