I've just moved from my '91 'tweaked' 944T to a 964 (RS-alike wannabe!) and it is a vastly different car to drive to the superb 944 - I think you might find the 3.2 Carrera to be positively archaic after the understated brilliance of the 944T. Just my thoughts[ORIGINAL: Fat Albert Bought mine just after I turned 40 earlier this year. My Mum had a new 924 back in '81 and I wanted her to upgrade to a 944 when they came out, but she got a job with a company car and had an Alfa 33 Veloce (last of the twin carb models) it went better than the Porsche, but the build quality was poles apart! Was in TWG Motorsport at the weekend having my Cambelt re-tensioned and was looking at a 928S4 and a 964 C4 on the forecourt, both could be the next step...after discussing it with the guys there, they said that both are absolutely fantastic cars....but the 928 would never visit them with a bill of less than £500 (my bill was £28 on Saturday!) and they said that I would be better off with a 3.2 as a first 911 rather than the 964. Fantastic honesty from those guys!

Nice one Nick.. an honest view of the two cars from someone who's driven a 911 and a 944T..... you made this old man smile.. oh I forgot...SWMBO says i'm just a big KID and she should know...[8|][8|] PeteI think you might find the 3.2 Carrera to be positively archaic after the understated brilliance of the 944T.

Thanks for your thoughts, you concur with 911 & Porsche World who do a write up on the 3.2 this month and suggest that a 3.2 does not compare to a 944 in build quality and engineering. Speaking to Friends who have/had SC/964/993/996s, I still think a sorted 964 would be the right next step, but it is a long way off yet and I want to enjoy the 944T for a while!ORIGINAL: appletonn I've just moved from my '91 'tweaked' 944T to a 964 (RS-alike wannabe!) and it is a vastly different car to drive to the superb 944 - I think you might find the 3.2 Carrera to be positively archaic after the understated brilliance of the 944T. Brilliant, good to hear that Fred![ORIGINAL: Fred Hindle My Porsches are actually older (in terms of total years) than the owner. I'm 55, that is according to my birth certificate, but in terms of the age that I act then next year I will be taking my eleven plus (if they still have such a thing?) [] Cheers,
