hiya,,as edd and oli mentioned before,,if anybody is up for a sunday garage day at mine,,i live in woodford green,,2 mins from the duck ponds on woodford green high rd,,nearly all sundays are ok for me apart from 2/3 sept, when we are on holiday for ten days,,i will leave the date for others to sort out,,,it would be really nice to see people,,,me on tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake duty,,theres an offer you cant refuse lol,,cheers jason p

I would be up for a garage day. Whilst I have not done much to a 944 maybe all of us posses little trinkets of knowledge we can share :). Besides, it would be a great excuse to meet up with like minded chaps :)

I started going to a regular 'boys toys day' about a year ago and have made solid frieds there. It is much more sociable than just meeting at a car show and of course you genuinely help each othrr out whilst putting the world to rights :) Probably one of the best 'car days' youll ever have without even driving (except to get there) Regards Mas

Great, shall we count you in then Mas? It's just up the road from you. Jason, top idea, well done. Thanks for offering - it'll be a good day. You need to fix a date so people can write it in their diaries; I suggest we avoid August as lots of people will be on Holiday and probably September as well as the weather may be a bit more unpredictable then. We could do a sweepstake on suitable dates, or just name suitable dates, in which case I can do anything in the rest of June or July (apart from the 7th July). So ... how about the 14th July? As it's a Sunday then I'll be along shortly before lunch (church commitments in the morning) but that leaves all afternoon to do stuff. It would be a good idea if people can come along with an idea of things they'd like to do, or learn. Servicing is quite possible on such a day, along with changing brakes and bleeding brake fluid and changing gearbox oil and lots of things like changing headlinings and so on. Stuff like rebuilding brake calipers is perhaps a bit optimistic as I'm assuming you don't have a workshop Jason. I can certainly bring a set of tools and a jack and some stands, and if people are going to want anything out-of-the-ordinary (like bottles to change the gearbox oil) then I can bring those too. So - who is up for it and what dates can you manage? Jason ChasR Mas (?) Oli We need more takers, and suggestions of dates! Oli. ETA: For those that don't know where Jason lives, it's just inside the top right hand corner of the M25, close to the bottom of the M11 and very easy to get to in either a superior model of 944 (i.e. an S2) or an inferior one (i.e. a Turbo).

Er except you know very well I don't have a 944 anymore , can't see many of you being interested in my small but growing collection of MG ZT's Lol If there had been a small group of folk in to this sort of thing in my area I'd probably still have a 944 TBH. I am quite in to my boys toys days and this is one of the reasons my car time all goes in to the ZT's now. Its much more fun working on your car and more so on your mates cars than standing on your own drive polishing a 944 on your tod hehehe Of course Tea and 'chocolate' is always a good draw [:D]

Yes, but a) knowing how often you buy and sell 944's you may well have another one by then, and b) you still have two hands, some tools and some overalls and can help us work on our cars! Jason, what are the odds of you being able to conjure up some tea and 'chocolate'? If you can, I think we may yet entice Mas down ... Oli.

Maybe if he knows i'd come he'll ban chocolate [8|] I am getting well in to spannering though, I actually find it really rewarding. I havn't got many 'rare tools' yet except if you were to be taking hub nuts off I have a breaker bar that could knock an elephant out [:D] TBH if I ever bought one in the future I'd bet on a 2.7 as i've had a hankering.

That sounds like a trick I'd like to see Mas - you bring the breaker bar and an elephant and if you can knock the latter out with the former then I'll give you a bar of chocolate. Deal? If you buy a 2.7 between now and early July then you'll even be able to drive down in it. Which means you wouldn't have to suffer us laughing at your MG ZT! [;)] Oli.

I'm up for this, Oli can examine my poorly made seats and I can eat some cake.[:D][:D] Seriously though I'm not too bad with a spanner just don't have the tools or space here in London. 14th July seems good, but coming back from 3000 mile round trip on the 13th so may be cutting it fine. Happy to attend in principle though. Edd

Fab! That means that we have Edd and a date. Anyone not OK with the 14th July? Anyone? Anyone? No? Great, then the 14th July it is. People coming: Jason ChasR Mas Edd Oli Who else? Oli. P.S. Next time a mod wanders into these parts, would they please put this date in their diary and make sure they turn up. Oh, and can you also change the thread title to "Garage Day on 14th July, N/E London, M25/M11" - thanks. Edited by Diver944 Done - Paul [:)]

14 july ,,good for me,,yes,,me on tea and choccy bisciuts and cold drinks,,,look forward to this one,,cheers jason p

Just a suggestion, and maybe too big a deal. If the weather is good and we have space I have a level 2 catering food hygeine certificate, so I could be persauded to flip some burgers on a bbq. Region 19 owns a 3/4 size drum bbq but that won't go in the boot of a cabriolet. Just a thought.

I would like to come along if that's ok don't know what help I could be willing to try and give a hand. Oh can bring cake

Whoah - this is getting better and better! Greg, it would be great to meet you. Yes, come along and lend a hand and bring some cake - all are very welcome. (I feel a bit of a fraud saying this as I am inviting people to Jason's party but Jason won't mind, I'm sure!) John, that's an interesting idea. Where would you need that BBQ carted down from? (Where is R19?) Would it go in the boot of a regular 944? It sounds like something that big would probably be more suited to catering for large numbers of people, so would it be do-able with a smaller bit of kit? Having someone knocking up some grub in such a way would give quite a different feel to the day - it would move it on from a grubby day spent twirling spanners to something infinitely more sophisticated. Jason, do you think this would work? (BTW John I do float on water but won't be giving demonstrations on the day. Sorry.) Smiffy, thanks for changing the thread title. Are you coming along? I really think you should ... we may need some moderating during the day and you are an excellent moderator ... [;)] So, names; Jason ChasR Mas Edd Oli Peter (ExSkyline) John (924nutter) Greg Smiffy Oli.

It will go in the back of a 944, but I will probably have to take the legs off but its only a few bolts. I am quite close to 'nulters, here in Marlow. M40, A404 Marlow slip towards Henley, turn left just before the Brittania. I will measure it up. I have used it three times for the August Cornbury House BBQ when Tony and Harriet did them but because of the haitus last year I was not asked by the new people. I may be asked to do it again next year but at the worker's conference I was told that Pirelli, as new tyre sponsors, are going to take care of it so keep your ears to the groind on this one. It's not as big as you might imagine actually, fully assembled I can get it in the back of the Ax GTI. In fact I will go and measure it now before the actual Moto Gp race starts. It is not catering sized and it is a struggle to cook for more than about 8 or ten at a time.

photo. I keep the cooking griddles in the kitchen and there are also two coal grates that fit inside.

yeah,,more the merrier,,where i am,,no through road as epping forest and directly next to woodford green golf course, we can block the road off as its no entry with only trees and no residents, sure the golfers wont mind lol ,,, my garage fine to work in but obviousley being mine it has no tools but lots of very good cleaning gear,,so lads please bring own tools, after all the work i am having presently at tower so no spannering needed for me but a couple of cosmetic issues need addressing like a cracked clear lens on my front spoiler,,so will change that,,,be very nice to have a good turnout,,regards jason p

John, Well, if you can get it to us (although it sounds like it will be your 944 OR the BBQ) then that could be a plan. Would you expect people to bring their own burgers to stick on it, or would you sell them to us? We'd also need to think whether we would do spannering and BBQ at the same time, or spannering then BBQ later on? What do other people think - a plan, or one you'd rather avoid? Jason, yes, it's a shame you are having all your jobs done just before the garage day you are hosting! Yes, we will need to bring our own tools indeed. In fact, it could be an idea for people to give an idea of what jobs they are likely to want to tackle beforehand so that we can ensure that all the necessary tools turn up. (i.e. If you want to do a job which you don't have the tools to do, like changing the gearbox oil or bleeding the brakes, post it up here and we can see whether someone has the tools and can bring them along.) What WILL be necessary is for you to bring all the parts you may need and to plan to take the old parts home with you afterwards (Jason's local bin men won't love him if we fill his bin up with a load of old worn-out 944 parts.) Jobs for me will be changing the rear disks and pads and possibly servicing the old girl. I have the disks and pads and oil and filter and spark plugs. Oli.
