Irish Tour 2012 Perhaps ?

Gents
How about a visit over here for a few days ...? Now its not going to be sommit really fancy .. I asked around during the 50th Celebration and got a really favourable response from anybody I asked...

If I get enough interest I will put sommit together.

Cost: I'll be trying to keep the costs down as much as possible. We wont be staying in dingy holes but it wont be a 5 star job either. Just good clean comfortable accomadation. I be trying to get a deal for the ferry !

Route: I was thinking of the sunny southeast on day 1 .. Day 2 Ring of Kerry Day 3 Galway/Connemara Day 4 Donegal/ Northern Ireland.. I havent really thought much about the route but I can promise you it will be nice quiet roads with nice scenes ! We will be doing perhaps 120 miles max a day with a 11am start and no more driving after 5pm !

I will be looking at least 3 days of a tour then a day of rest where you can do your own thing [;)]

Id just like to guage interest in this early ... and Id like suggestions as well !

Hi Donal, we talked about this at Cirencester, it sounds good but will depend on when for me. Was good to meet you. Colin, if your's is still in pieces you could occupy my passenger seat, lol. Alan Locke.

Hi Donal, Sounds good, please count me as interested! Pauline too, but probably sharing just one car.

Good idea Donal. We spent a family holiday around Kilkenny this summer and the scenery and roads (and local hospitality) were truly impressive! Depending on dates, we'd be up for a repeat visit next year [:)]

I'll Take that as a resounding Yes then so Lads...! [;)] I will see about setting a concrete date that hopefully dosent clash with anything else ! I will be hopefully looking at the 3rd weekend in August but I will get organised to have it included in the PCGB calendar for 2012....! Hopefully dosent clash with R25 .. Anyone know if and when R25 are hoping to visit...? I will get a date that we can all plan our time off and commitments around by early next week latest.. ! Once I get that sorted then I can work on the route and most importantly the lunch and overnight stops ! As said before the 944 crowd have been described as the renegade cousins that used to come around your house when you were young and cause mayhem ! Only thing is we have all grown up now and have resorted to drinking and singing... [:D] Only stipulation is everyone brings a song to the table... [;)] Do I hear George Hamilton IV ...? Seriously lads nothing too formal - good roads - good scenery - good craic but best of all a good bunch of likeminded folk, no matter about the weather !

I believe the R25 trip is pencilled in for the first week in June - half term week, but no concrete plans/dates yet. Why not drop an email to Pearl and Phil (R25 RO's).

It will all be in the one big bit by then easy.Massive conversation tonight in the garage over coilovers and colours.

Thanks for the heads up Chris - Really appreciate that [;)] Well I dropped Phil and Pearl a quick mail and they indeed have sommit really good planned. It will be the Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire ferry ...! They will spend 3 days in Galway [;)] then 3 days in Killarney finishing with a day in Wexford.. thats a full week. They plan to stay 4 star on a half board basis. They have a definate time of first week in June.. ! This sounds fab in fairness As I was saying I was thinking of a 4 day tour Thursday to Monday in late August. Staying 1 night in each place and then moving on from there ...! If you would like longer or shorter then now is the time to put your oar in..! After all I am here already ! Its all up to yourselves lads. I am going to go and meet the R25 crew in June anyway and go for a jaunt around for part of their stay... ! Do yous want a short or long tour ?- maybe 4 days is a bit short and hectic, maybe some may not be able to commit to a full week... ! I'll leave it with you fellas to mull over (and get permission....![:D]) but in any case even I get a handful of names I wil still l go ahead and get sommit together. ... If you want to go with R25 for a fab week away in June no problem - If yous want to come with me for a long weekend in August - still no problem ! [;)]

I might come as Napolean XIV....... [&:]
So you will be singing "Waterloo" then I take it Paul [:D]

Donal, I would personally be looking at a 2-3 night visit to Ireland to meet up, which I know probably may seem short, but more realistic. By the way, you sound like you are getting excited already. We have a 944 meet tomorrow in Scotland so will chat to the guys about a Scottish invasionto your tour. Cheers Alan.

Do I really sound like that ......[:D] .. I am getting excited alright...! Thanks a million Alan - Yes please say it around your Scottish meet and get a Scots invasion organised ! It would be best to get a crew from Holyhead to Dublin Port perhaps on the Thursday then travel up along the NE coast and pick up the Scots at Larne and have a day touring Northern Ireland !. In my experience The Scots are always good for a song as well... . Its at least 10 months away and I am set off already [:D] I am going to keep with the 4 day max Thursday to Monday plan as this will work better for time off and stuff for folk ... ! Also we wont be staying anywhere pricey.. I myself want somewhere clean, warm and secure to stay ! Right then ... Ive made a desicion .. ! We will have our own 944 Hibernia Tour Thursday 23rd August until Monday 27th August 2012. These dates I pulled from the hat so I will stick with these and I will put them to the Club as our dates and hopefully they dont clash with anything too major ! I must get the owl thinking cap on and study my maps and get organised early ! You wont be disappointed ! BTW Thanks a million lads for the big vote of confidence [;)]

Good effort Donal. I'd be really up for this and could perhaps drop off the "better half" at her folks in Belfast before meeting up Larne. I have driven the Antrim coast a couple of years back and enjoyed it.
