Dear all,

As part of the 100th Anniversary of RAF Northolt the Station will hold an open day on the 13 Jun 2015, opening its doors to military families and visitors from the local area. There will be an air display, live entertainment and static displays for people to look at.

The Station expects to exceed the 8000 visitors that came to the open day last year.

There "might" be an opportunity to display a selection of 911's at the Open Day, (free entry obviously). Would anyone be interested in this? No details as yet, I'm just trying to scope interest at this point.

More info here: RAF Northolt Open Day 2015

Does anyone have any good contacts at Porsche GB? Is there a historical department etc?

Kind regards,

Tom

Damm ..... yes we are at Le Mans Dino!!! However, I was based at RAF Northolt in the early 90s (or was that my older looking cousin [;)]). So if there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to ask. Nick (ex VASS RAF Northolt) London Regional Organiser

This is pretty local to me and looks like a good day out. I would be interested. Regards Feroz

I might have been there, but as your younger-looking cousin? [8|] I lived next to the runway from about 1989 to 1997. We lost some roof tiles to a Hercules that mis-judged it's landing, and I was often late for work when Royalty closed the road when they were exiting the site. Clearly they paid more road tax than me.... Sadly, if this is a 911-only event it cuts out half our Club. What a shame.

Email sent to Tom the original poster as we the London region like to promote inclusive events and there are some fine examples of non-911s out there.

Unfortunately I am at Le Mans but I did this open day a few years ago (I am sure there were less than 8k attendees at that time !) and it is a great day out that I would highly recommend. I am not sure if this is still the case but I had to be pre-cleared by security prior to the event. It was really good to see the officers' families enjoying themselves and there was lots to keep your interest including fly pasts as well as RAF skydivers. Here are a couple of photos for those that may be interested

You don't know everything about me [:D] Let's just say I have been cleared at the highest levels to allow me access to world leaders and into embassies [;)] Access to a working military base is small fry. BTW, I have just remembered, the visit I referred to was at Brize Norton and not Northolt but I imagine it is similar.

So, firstly I must apologise. I didn't really think about other models, that was extremely short sighted of me, sorry! Let me right that wrong, the invite is open to any Porsche. However, I am still just scoping and trying to judge numbers/interest before going into detail. Tom

I'm a long-time member of the club but have only just joined the forums and would be interested in going to this. Curious why it says I'm a "Guest of the Club" when I've given my membership number......?
