How future classic??!

I think we have to respect what ian is saying also having seen it.....and it confirms what I was told.

It probably needs a little work to get right, but once done so could be a nice sorted low miler...

I agree, but now define a good and rewarding car, the implication being that this may not be ? That the Forum may mislead ?

As always, it's personal choice, but unless any work required is of a very fundamental nature, it can surely be taken care of in the price.

What I have said of Matt and the car is to the best of my knowledge, completely true and verifiable.

What Ian has said of the car is (I am sure) to the best of his knowledge completely true, and can also easily be checked prior to purchase.

But I would hate to think that by expressing any view, one is in danger of misleading ....

If anyone who is seriously interested in purchasing a 964RS bases their purchase of any car based on comments on a forum Chris then the condition of that car is the least of their problems!!!!

I think comment was made to why it had not sold...and that reason was it probably needed a little work and that engine mods are not every buyers first choice.

I'm sure everyone agrees it could be a decent car when all sorted and that price would have to reflect that or is maybe why its hung around?

It would appear that not to do anything without doing anything in the first place would be like following thye trawler without any fish.

Had a good nose around the silver 64RS yesterday.

Let's just say it looks alot nicer in the pics than it does up close.

It's the price it is for a reason and has not sold for those reasons also...

Shame it looked great in those pics and from personal experience with Paul Stephens i'm suprised as I've only had great experiences with them. Funny though as reading back through this thread I was encouraged to buy it from GT Classics . Sounds like I had a result!!!

Nothing against Paul Stephens...they were exemplary in pointing out its issues... [:)]

So Jason, do you have your eyes on it, at a price ?

What? Jason snapping up a car at a bargain price. Tidying it up and selling it on in the Spring for a tidy profit? You've got 'im all wrong! [:D]

You are all very cynical.....[:D]

Only car I've done that with was because of circumstances otherwise it would still be in the garage[&o]

Not for me I'm afraid.....price is a long long way off what I'd be prepared to pay.

They did have a very nice 26k mile rhd maritime blue 964RS....but mr hong kong had bought at over 90k....it is very weird to see an entire marketplace for one car being supported by one person. I do think the second he stops buying them you will find a UK price correction...none are being bought by UK customers but if I owned one I'd be desperately trying to sell him it at the moment.....!!!

But if they never come back, how rare will those that are left be ?

So what's the cost of building a 964RS recreation ???

And could this ever be worth more than Mat's car ? [:D]

Thats a fair point actually. The question is will a typical UK punter pay that sort of money in the future? Not so sure...but there will be few of them. Unless HK dumps them all when they want 993RS's in a few years....then GT3's.....

Recreation's value I think is more reflective on what other none recreations can be had for the same asking price rather than what the price of an original is....

Depends on what your definition of recreation is. That one Jason dabbled with went a long way towards being a copy, according to the advert (I didn't get to see it as he didn't have it for very long [:D]). The 9M964RS is something approaching £30K plus the donor the car and then there's the odd joker you see in PH adverts that describes his 964 fitted with no more than a fibreglass rear bumper, dummy brake ducts and wheels painted black as an RS recreation. [8D]

From a rarity perspective cars need to be rare, but not so rare that there is barely a market and people dont know about them. Thats what makes the 964 and 993 RS such good bets, they are rare, but not too rare!

Look at the C4 LWT - the market in these is very strange as there are so few of them. Same with other non-porsche of course.

RHD 964RS 26000 miles at £90K to Mr Wong of Hong Kong, rumour is another 5 RHD 964RS being shipped out from reliable source[;)]
