Help ! cant get reverse !

I emailed the Ebay seller of the quick shift in the US, I dont want to just junk it but it seems pretty badly made with lots of play in, it wasnt massively expensive but it was more the time, still a refund of the £65 or so would be good. This is the barely comprehensible reply I got, what they are saying I dont know,

"We are very sorry to hear that but sometimes if it is fitted in a way that it is crossing rear gear gear it does stop car from reversing, if you remove an dreinstall such that the end is on opposite side of gear then it will be fine, pls do let us know

Make any sense ?

Realised my earlier selection issues were down to the original shifter, not so much the bit of play in it but the fact the metal shaft was stuck in the nylon bush when it should turn, worth checking if anyone is having a bit of a job getting gears, think it had just corroded internally and this stopped it turning.

Sorry to hear that you've had problems with the quick shift J4CKO, as I know I put you onto this option [8|]. Just to say that I've finally had mine fitted for me and, subject to a bit of modification by my friendly mechanic, it's fitted and working well. He had a problem with it fouling in the fore and aft direction, which meant that you couldn't select gear at all, but some machining sorted that out, and it's now fitted and has transformed the car [:)].

It's certainly removed all of the sloppiness of the change that I had previously, and is also a much shorter throw now. It will take a little getting used to, but should be perfect for my intended track use.

I tried removing a bit of material as it was fouling, really, they should work out of the box. I am happy with a fully working standard change but if I went that route again I would spend a bit more for a better engineered solution, as it is now don't want to mess with it, spent way too much time rooting round in the limited space round the gearbox, not very comfortable !

Fair comment, they shouldn't really need modifying... Glad you're happy with a refreshed standard change after all your efforts.
