Hello

Rob,

Hangover-free - only you can control this. But it's not looking good; you're delusional comments thus far on this thread could be a result of alcohol. (Having said that, I know you repair your Turbo with Boddingtons tins so you could be just getting things ready for a good repair session tomorrow!)

Rain looks pretty likely tho'. Hope it stays dry for you none the less ...

Oli.

I've recently bought a 1989 944 Turbo so far I'm really please with it. They seem very much the unloved model, I wonder how many critics have driven the 944 turbo...
Hi Jamie welcome to the best forum in town. Really nice looking turbo. I LOVE MINE [:)]
As you have already found out the kiddies are at play as to turbo or S2. I got the same but always remember what I learnt. Feel the boooooooooooooooost[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
Enjoy its a great register.

Welcome!
A certain Tiffany Dell said some very nice things about the 944T on 5th gear ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7qOHKSGiJ8) and a Mr Clarkson had the 944T in his top 100 cars ( http://www.944turbo.org.uk/ click on hot100 ) and a Mr D Bell http://944turbo.net/?p=612 likes it.
Tony

Nice looking example there, like the splitter
I have had mine for 3 years now and have covered 36,000 miles and still love it when the boost rushes in....

Beats me why the market spanks itself into a spending frenzy over all manner of mediocre cars, I have a thing about Escorts (The car that is, Mk1 and 2 specifically), I like them but I cant reconcile how much they go for whilst the 944 which is better in every way is a lot cheaper, good as it means some relative bargains for us but I think really the 944 deserves a higher billing than it gets, another one, and a contemporary of the 944 is the E30 M3, prices have gone mental and I think they are nice but again, is it better than a 944, especially a Turbo, it isnt like the M3 is vastly more rare than a Turbo, 25,000 944 turbos vs 16,000 m3's.

Basically, competition history and eligibility for historic motorsport events. No-one was ever world rally champion in a 944, and no-one spent Saturday weekends watching 944s dice with Cosworth Sierras in saloon car racing.

I think the Escort thing is partly that as it had an effect on loads of lads back then and they get money and there is a limited supply, to me it makes sod all difference as whether a highly modified one went sideways in a forest back in the seventies is kind of irrelevant, am bothered how it drives now, kind of glad the 944 is still cheap as otherwise I couldn't afford one.

I dont think it is that simple as there are loads off other cars with competition history that are dead cheap, the original Imprize for example but I think that is perhaps where the Escort was in the late eighties/earlly nineties, i.e. a cheap fast banger, suspect that tidy classic Imprezas could be one to watch.

Congrats!

I considered that car for a while but thought it was a bit too track focused for my needs. Looks fantastic. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Hi Pav, come and join us at Classic Sports Car Club Future Classics, we've got a few 944's and there's plenty of good safe racing , a lot safer than Track Days. There's too many idiots on track days for my liking, the Future Classic boys can drive.

Donington this Sunday (4th Aug) is a track day with quite a few Porsches attending. It may be fully booked but might be worth giving bookatrack a call to see if you fancy trying out your (beautiful) new toy and meeting a few fellow Porsche addicts.

Welcome.
Mick

....or the Porsche silverstone youdrive event on Sat 14th Sept

( i think I'm the only Porsche at Donington on the 16th Aug)

Hello and welcome to the joys (and occasional tribulations !) of 944 ownership. Recognize your user name from the recent 944 thread on PH so very glad you took the plunge and bought yourself one and that you have found your way to this forum. Its a real mine of information, camaraderie (and commiseration if needs be [;)] )

If you have any questions to ask or problems to solve, chances are the answer will be found within the collective wisdom and experience of folk here. [:)]

Welcome.

Just for future reference, no 944 ever has "faults", they have "opportunities for improvement" [;)]

Welcome here Olly - hope nothing major on the faults front?

Looks odd someone else putting up pics of 'my' car! [:D]

That front strut is sat here for you if you'd like it still?

Cheers
Andy

Hia,

Thank you. Faults maybe a strong word, but the brakes aren't right. Suspect and hope it is just some air in the system. Over the next year I hope to go through the brakes, suspension and belts, with attention to other non-essentials like the rattling heat shield.

Then more power. Definitely more power.

And a wheel refurb.
