Hello

I am on the Isle of Man (speed limit free in certain areas)

Good news on the whine then.

This picture is from the advert i bought the car from

It is a replacement for

I am sure i will be along with plenty more questions when i start getting to know the car a bit better.

Hello and welcome - nice looking car ! As others have said this place is a great source of knowledge and chat, hope you enjoy your stay [:)]

Welcome, looks great. [:)]

The only real way to judge how bad the gearbox whine is would be to get a ride in a few other cars. I'd say that anything less than you needing ear-protection whilst driving is no problem.

Do change the gearbox oil, it's a very cheap job and can only be a good thing. Just make sure the fill plug comes out before you drain it - one will be soaked in oil and easy to remove, the other one might not and then it's too late. [&:]

Yup. Mine whines much less when warm after a decent oil change. Well worth doing. I went for swepco.

Hi Tom,
We will be over at our cottage in Laxey on Monday next-however in the BMW,not a Porsche until Friday evening.
Will keep an eye open for your smart motor.
Cheers,
Colin.

Hello and welcome! I've recently purchased a square-dash 944 myself.

I will echo some of the comments on here about the exceptional support available through this forum to owners of these fantastic cars.

Mine also whines. I accept this as a feature of the car and makes it feel more like a race-car (to me anyway!)

I love the colour by the way[;)]

Hello and welcome, people here will look after any questions you may have, enjoy your car, educated descision there !

Lovely looking Turbo there mate in the fastest colour of course. Loving the front splitter. Will be an addition to mine in the future I think. Whereabouts in the country are you then?

Hi and welcome

Very good looking Turbo you have and its very good that we haven't had to ask for pictures [:)]

Cheers

There is always much love for this model here [:)] Thanks for the pics and we look forward to further impressions as you drive it more.

Still can not get over the fact that this has only done 59k miles

surely this must be one of the lowest mileage 944 turbos in the country [:)] ...

Nice looking car. Thanks for stopping by and posting some piccies.

I'm afraid the turbo always was, and always will be, unloved. It's an impressive car, but sits in the shade of the S2 which is the superior model by some margin. That's not to denigrate the turbo - it's a cracker, and I'm glad you are enjoying it.

Let us know when you have had enough of it and we'll introduce you to a real 944!

Oli.

P.S. Regular posters on here will no doubt comment on this post. Please ignore those comments, unless they are fellow S2 owners! [;)]

Oh Oli you never cease to find ways to disappoint us do you [;)] I mean on the chaps inaugral outing and everything. Shame on you and your vastly underpowered, unmodifiable 944 in completely the wrong colour [:D]

Now now Rob - the chap's new and we are meant to be nice to him. Stop pushing this thread off-topic and do start being helpful, old boy. [:)]

Now, back to the inferiority of the Turbo compared with the S2 ....

Oli.

P.S. My S2 is nicely modified, thank you! And it cost a LOT less than the king's ransom you turbo boys seem to pour into your waggons. []

Oli I would hardly call a stiffer elastic band a modification [:D] But seriously though at least your S2 goes (very slowly admitidley) and isn't sat on your drive (isn't that another unobtainable thing down in the smoke a drive?) awaiting an engine rebuild []

I feel your pain Rob, my friend. It would be rude to make capital given your sorry situation. And, for that reason, I'll be uncommonly kind.

Maybe you could consider a Ferrari as your next car?

Red - check
Fast when it works - check
Breaks down a lot - check

Oli.

Ahh touche! I will skulk off to the corner of this internet forum and turn my desk to face the wall. Then I will plot my revenge, regroup and return stronger than ever. As soon as I can actualy be arsed to get started on my rebuild. Hopefully this might be tomorrow as long as A: I am hangover free and B: It is isn't pissing down!! I don't fancy my chances on either front [&:]
