Half Car Cover / BOSE

Two separate topics as per title.

Would anyone recommend a particular 'half car cover' for my 999.2 GTS - as it stays on my drive and is not garaged. WOndering if this is worthwhile for winter.

Secondly - my car has the BOSE hi-fi system. Is it me, or is this pretty poor? It's way behind the quality of the Harmon Kardon system I had in my previous BMW 440i. I appreciate the Burmester should be a step up, but I had hoped the BOSE system would still be reasonable.

Many thanks!

My wife’s Macan has the BOSE system but my daughter’s only has the basic system, and TBH it’s difficult to distinguish between them.

Hmm yea, based on my experience so far, I'm not surprised. I've tried to tweak the settings, and I get a marginal improvement. I wonder if anyone has replaced the speakers with aftermarket to try and improve.

Most detailers recommend not using an outdoor cover particularly in the winter for two reasons;

1. in windy conditions, regardless of how well fitted and lined the cover is, the inside will rub against the paintwork and touchpoints and cause scratching, marring or worse.
2. as the cover will be non breathable, moisture will be trapped under the cover, again, not doing the bodywork any good.

I'm in the same boat, not having a garage, but with regular waxing or coating, the paintwork copes just fine.

Thanks very much - I did wonder that in all honesty! (Saves me some unnecessary expense also - always a bonus!)

Appreciate the advice, I'll continue to regularly wax/wash :)

In regards to sound quality, I had tweeters and door speakers replaced at Audiofile Incar which made a noticeable difference. In addition to the speakers they apply some sound deadening. Problem from there is that the next step up for amp replacement is £3k. I have heard this makes a huge difference but I can’t justify that level of spend.

That's good to know. Yes I certainly couldn't justify £3k worth of spend- and actually, that seems like an awful lot to upgrade an in-car amp :O.

If you don't mind me asking (no problem if you'd rather not say), how much did your upgrades cost & what did you get exactly?

Many thanks!

It was £750 from memory all in. They use Focal speaker and tweeters. I should have said it’s the 4 inch speakers in the door they replace, not the woofers.

I’m not sure whether you could switch the amp over to the burmester instead of the £3k upgrade.
