I thought that, and in any case I have a suspicious that CS wheels would be original only on a Silver Rose car. Still, no nit-picking - it looks like a really nice car that has had the right sort of love and attention even if it is a slow colour. And wheels are freely interchangeable, so who cares?
 
Theyre the original option wheels. My 1988 Turbo should have the same forged Fuchs wheels as this, according to the data sticker, rather than the 7" & 8" cast ATS telephone dials.
 
Lot 59, with an estimate of over £10,000 is a joke! The car is a Barryboy'd-up PoS.

This, I think, shows that their valuations are far from knowledgeable.
 
We understand the work (which included having the engine refurbished by the Porsche network) totalled in excess of £20,000
 
Strange: my comment seems to have disappeared, so I will repeat... For £10,000 Id expect a lot more facts and a lot less waffle and Id also expect a working clock and a replaced centre console.

I can supply any facts you like, but they are all in the file at the auction (I don't know if you noticed but the description is actually far more thorough and fact-heavy than most of their lots).

I'm not sure I'd agree that the most vital things when buying a 24 year old 944 Turbo are the clock (which rarely worked on these cars 20 years ago) and a few extra screws in the centre console, but no matter - if you bid £10,000 I can assure you I will have them replaced for you. [:)]
 
They arent vital, but I regard them as indicators, rather like matching tyres. There may be facts in there, but theres a lot of waffle and some glaring mistakes.

I'd suggest a non-working clock, which may have failed 20 years ago (as many did) and signs of a mobile phone having been fitted probably at a similar time, are not factors that the educated buyer will place much weight upon. There are other things that are FAR more important - like the fact that the sills are original and not corroded (indicating it's been well looked after and likely garaged for a fair amount of its life). I take your point on the tyres - they're all N rated Continentals on this car.

As for glaring mistakes, would you be so kind as to point them out? I'm not aware of any in what I've written, but sadly I don't control what the auction house write. There is a correction I'd make if there was an opportunity to do so though - when we added up what's been spent in the last 24 months it actually went into 5 figures - so to state over £8k is still correct but the more accurate figure is over £10,000.

You keep referring to 'twenty years ago' and presuming that youre telling me something that I dont know, but 2012 is actually the 20th anniversary of my first 944 purchase and I am quite familiar with the cars and their shortcomings.

Where it looked like there was a good chance of the name being right. You haven't mentioned any other "glaring errors" but I'm all ears if there are any.

I don't think it's for you to tell me what I'm presuming (I certainly didn't state I was presuming anything) but I stand by what I wrote about the actual importance of small pieces of trim on such an old car. Don't forget though, I even said I'd be happy to change them for you if you feel they do matter so much (the customer is always right...).

Congratulations on 20 years, I guess we've both known and driven these cars a similar amount of time (24 years in my case). I've driven them on road since I was a teenager and on track a few years later, converted one for track use, and raced another to great success so I hope you'll agree that I too know them reasonably well.
