H & H Auctions Buxton have an 88 Turbo

Attended the Auction yesterday, Porsche results below:
944 Turbo £5,000
356 speedster rep (Cat D) £11,000
928 GTS £11,500
928S £1200
all plus 12% and VAT.

I thought the 944 Turbo was poor, you caould not open the tailgate, or the bonnet (the cable had been disconnected !).
Andrew.

did the turbo actually sell at £5000 or was it reserve not met?

that used to be an old fashioned auction trick making it so you couldnt look under the bonnet, usually due to HGF.

If you put the key in the tailgate it opens fine, the bonnet catch works fine if pulled in the right way - it's a shame it didn't work for you because it's really good under there and an enthusiast will appreciate this upon viewing.

The car did not sell, it was hampered by the fact that despite promising that it would have a full valet before being displayed and having been delivered at the appointed time on Tuesday, it wasn't touched at all! I noticed this upon arrival at 1.30 (the sale started at 2pm) and they did get someone to give it a quick wipe over. Too little too late of course.

I'm currently awaiting a resolution from H&H who are also in turn going to be kicking the arses of whoever does (or rather is supposed to do) their valeting. I could have had the car cleaned before taking it over (it didn't need much more than a wash and quick wax) but didn't because they told me it was all included in the entry fee, and of course it's better done on site rather than before a 25 mile drive to deliver it. There is a big difference in the first impression of a car with brake dust on the wheels and needing a wash and one that's just been cleaned, especially when most others around it have been freshly cleaned.

If anyone would care to view (clean!) the car, test drive it annd have it inspected before deciding how good it is, they'd be more than welcome. If you know these cars well and are familiar with the quality of what's usually offered for sale I think you'll be very pleasantlly surprised.

Mmm. 928 GTS at 11.5K sounds good but at 15.5 which is what it actually costs it isn't so good. They're a bit misleading these auction prices.

the 944 Turbo.. you could not open the..bonnet (the cable had been disconnected !).

I've just collected the car and checked it over and it seems the bonnet catch has indeed been fiddled with, causing the backplate to break (new one now on order from Porsche). I guess it's typical of auction sabotage and again a shame as you weren't able to appreciate it.

I know it's not the same as seeing it for yourself but here's a picture anyway:

I think your maths may need a little work....
11,500 bid price
1,380 - 12% premium
276 - VAT on premium

So that's £13,156 grand total (equivalent to bid price plus 14.4%) - to be taken into consideration when bidding for sure, but a long way off the £15,500 you suggested.

The car looked OK but the signs of crusty paint around the window seals showing that the windows weren't removed before painting always annoys me, perhaps more so as no-one has ever bothered to remove the crusty paint.

Hi Goosey,
I wondered about this as I drove home as it seemed such a difference.
I've added VAT to the whole amount including the buyers premium rather than just the premium.
As you quite rightly suggest the correct figure is more like £13K rather than the figure I suggested.

So not for your stock then?

Mine should have them, but doesnt. I believe that theyre an option (M395), but they may have been a forced option, as many things with PCGB were then.
