Gearbox and front diff Carrera 4

Hello,

I need to change my Tip transmission fluid on my mk1 2001 Carrera 4 (LT 71141 oil)
About 6.6 liters if I'm not mistaken?
However at the same time id like to get the front diff done too is this the same oil (LT 71141)
And how much does the front diff hold?
Many thanks
Regards

The ATF capacity for a A96.00 C4 gearbox is 9 litres, but the change quantity is quoted as 4.0 litres. It is a job to drain much more than that.

The front differential uses 75W-90 gear oil, not ATF. Mobilube PTX or Shell Transaxle. 1.5 litres.

Thanks Richard, quick reply as always.

So five liters for the gearbox should do including the filter.
Do you know whether it's recommended to change the pan bolts?

Regards

Richard.

Sorry Richard another question if I may,
As I won't get all the fluid out is it ok to use Mobil ATF LT 71141 thus mixing

Or should I really use OEM oil as I think it's original?

Regards

Richard.

The original fill will have been Mobil ATF LT 71141 or Pentosin ATF-1, which are miscible. Here is a page from my book which shows the spec and capacities for all models.

Shame on me, I normally go to your book as my first port of call I always recommend it to anyone I know with a 996.
Totally slipped my mind to look.
Thanks Richard.
Have a good weekend.
