Fuel hose recall

The owners of certain model variants and production years have received the same letters from Porsche GB as attached; first in November and now a reminder recently.

On the second page, it says "Please contact your preferred Porsche Centre to arrange an appointment to you to have this essential recall carried out on your vehicle. The necessary work will be carried out free of charge."

Apart from the fact that on most/many/all (?) cars the OEM fuel hoses will have been replaced long ago (as on my car), the problem appears to be finding a Porsche Centre actually willing to take this on.

My nearest 'Centre' - Portsmouth - was not interested and pointed me to a 'Classic Partner', specifically Porsche Centre Bournemouth. Having never heard of these 'Classic Partners', I googled the term and found there are five across the country. Swindon would be marginally easier for me to reach (still a two-hour drive each way!), so I called them. They said they'd call me back; they haven't. On Facebook, others have reported similar problems with disinterested 'OPCs'.

I am therefore done with running after Porsche Centres and emailed Porsche GB yesterday. Let's see if I get a reply; I'm not holding my breath.

Ultimately, it appears to me the problem is proving to the DVSA that the fuel hoses on your car are not the original ones and safe. But how to do that?

No outstanding recall listed when I checked the MOT history on my 91 turbo. I thought this originally related to the short fuel hose on the fuel rail.

I booked my 86 turbo in with the Porsche Centre in Swindon, the first one I tried after I received the letter. They seemed pretty happy to take it on and did the work whilst I waited including a thorough vehicle inspection.

Yeah, that model year is clearly unaffected. A close friend also has a 91 turbo and has not had the letters either.

Interesting! So what work did they actually do? Did they replace the hoses? Were they original, or had they been replaced previously and were they deemed to be fine?

(My car is also an 86 Turbo).

In my case, 1986 944 turbo, no recall was listed. To put my mind to rest could someone who has had the letter put their VIN into this sites search bar and tell us if Porsche AG are listing the recall?

Yes, mine shows up - recall code AK03, which is - astoundingly - dated Mar 30, 1990.

We both have 1986 turbos one with the recall and without!
