Front Axle Lift system

Hi everyone

A friend of mine is interested in getting a Gen 2 991 Turbo S and has asked me what I think of it the Front Axle Lift system value and practical wise.

Mine doesn't have it as it was not available in 2014 and I am not sure that I would have ordered it anyway.

Most of our decent driving involves boarding a car ferry and although at low tide I had a few problem with my 997 Gen 1 Turbo with the fixed spoiler so far the 991 hasn't been a problem as the front spoiler is retracted.

Any views?

I took a look at the Gen 2 Turbo S on display at the PEC in Silverstone last week and, with the retractable splitter, the apron looks to have plenty of clearance under normal conditions. Vehicles spec'd with the aero kit may have clearance reduced , of course.

I guess it all depends on the terrain he is anticipating. Normally ferries, trains etc are OK, but you often get caught out unexpectedly in driveways, forecourts and such like. Living in North Devon with the terrain around here, I would probably spec it just to be on the safe side.

I have a fairly steep rise into my driveway which I had to adjust using some tarmac stuff I picked up from a DIY outlet. Also I have whacked the underside of my front apron a couple of times, most notably when I was directed into a field at Carfest a couple of years ago. Very annoying! Anyway, I've ordered a Gen 2 991 and have opted for the Front Axle Lift option. I think I'll get enough use out of it to make it worthwhile. I'll let this group know in due course how much benefit I get from it.
