flat battery

Winter mode is for when the temperature is below 5 degs C. Probs does something to prevent calcification, no idea really.

Many thanks chaps. Good explanation there Paul. I just have the charger temporarily connected at the moment. Paul, the ctek permanent wiring has a propriatary connector at the end of the + and ground wires that are on the battery, so at least it is not just bare wires !

Scotty, according to the CTEK uk website, you can buy a different cable to that one in the picture (same as the one on mine) which includes an inline fuse - might investigate that myself as Paul's comment made me sit up and think!

check glove box light isn't on all the time , this is quite common and flattens battery in a couple of days.

Andy, if you need a good auto-electrician to look at it, I had a total wiring overhaul on mine for about £130. My car has gone from draining flat in 10 days, to standing for 14 days and starting as if on a full charge. Very impressed with the (ahem) cash in hand work, although I haven't been able to arrange to have the final pieces completed (battery isolator, door lock actuators fitted) and therefore pay him yet.

Andy,

You could try putting a multimeter across the fuse terminals, after removing the fuse. That will tell if that circuit is drawing, and how much current. Repeat for each fuse.
Once you've identified the problem circuit you can check the fuse card to see what's on that particular circuit.

Cheers for the replies gents, after a charge all night Sunday and 150 mile round trip to the Ace last night let's see what happens at the weekend, after keeping the doors shut for the rest of the week [:D]
